2022

The article proposes a reflection on the topic of authenticity with reference to digital solutions developed for cultural heritage. After a brief theoretical review on digital authenticity, the article analyzes as a case study an application for mobile devices, which offers augmented reality content and digital reconstructions of spaces, monuments and activities of the Roman city of Tarraco (Tarragona), included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List. The research conducted according to a qualitative methodology returns evidence of the centrality of authenticity in the tourist experience and in the strategies aimed at fostering the attractiveness of places.

El método MercatorGis. Un primer acercamiento

2021

The digital competence related to the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) is usually seen as very complex, difficult and is an issue that is not taken into account although it is very important in the representation and understanding of phenomena, not only geographic ones: the The very term Geographic Information System encompasses the integration of very diverse areas. The theme fits perfectly with the objectives of this symposium since, according to the definition drawn up by the National Center of Geographic Information and Analysis, GIS serves "to solve complex planning and management problems". In fact, the GIS is today one of the most modern and effective tools in the tourism…

Geografie digitali - Spazi e socialità

2018

Digital Education, Geography and Multidisciplinarity: Themes, Methods and Critical Issues

2022

In the last few years education has been strongly marked by the digital paradigm: captivating resources, new teaching tools, methodologies and unprecedented interactions between teachers and students have become part of the scientific debate on new teaching/learning processes. This has had positive effects on teachers leading them to new stimuli and new ways of boosting creativity in their didactic approach. The pandemic period has acted as a catalyst of this digital progress in the education field and has also provided the foundation for a scientific reflection on this matter as can be seen in many international congresses and research programs. The visual nature of Geography, both in term…

Settore M-GGR/02 - Geografia Economico-PoliticaThe current debate about the Italian territorial reorganization makes again fundamental the concept of «territory». This paper aims to reflect on some important dynamics that concern the idea of territory. More in particular I explore in which form it can be (re)semantised through some tourism representations and narrations able to create specific ways of interaction. By taking into account the case study of the Lonely Planet 2017 digital tourist guidebook dedicated to Sicily that splits (and reorganizes) the island in smaller «regions» it is possible to reflect on a complex space dynamic able to redefine the same idea of territory. Indeed the tourist guidebook uses both texts and geographical maps to propose an anthology of homogeneous and coherent destinations to make the Otherness more accessible for the readers. This process demonstrates how symbolic (re)productions of a territory can give rise to specific constructions of places creating different concepts of region and therefore performative spaces and opportunities of «agency». In other terms the (re)definition of the Sicilian territory proposed by the guide invites tourists to consider a new (narrated) geography invites and invites to interact with it thinking as visitors. From a geographical and cultural point of view reflection on these dynamics allows us to consider some (re)definitions of space in relation to forms of textualization (even on the maps). An imaginary but performative geography that attributes to the concept of territory epistemological and gnoseological possibilities.Settore M-GGR/01 - Geografia

L’INNOVAZIONE DEL CAPABILITY APPROACH NEL PROMUOVERE LA COMPETENZA DIGITALE DEGLI INSEGNANTI DELLA SCUOLA SECONDARIA

2022

DIGITAL STORYTELLING AT THE UNIVERSITY

2015

Authors from a range of backgrounds have suggested telling stories as a means of making sense of experience. In particular, educators are using storytelling to stimulate students critical thinking skills and encourage self-review. There are many ways to work with stories. Although storytelling is not new, the idea of digital storytelling is new. Digital storytelling is as modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital storytelling has emerged over the last few years as a powerful teaching and learning tool that engages both educators and students. However, until recently, little attention has been paid to a theoretical framework that could be employed to increase the effectiv…

Maximizing versus satisficing in the digital age: Disjoint scales and the case for “construct consensus”

2018

Abstract A question facing us today, in the new and rapidly evolving digital age, is whether searching for the best option – being a maximizer – leads to greater happiness and better outcomes than settling on the first good enough option found – or “satisficing.” Answers to this question inform behavioural insights to improve well-being and decision-making in policy and organizational settings. Yet, the answers to this fundamental question of measurement of the happiness of a maximizer versus a satisficer in the current psychological literature are: 1) conflicting; 2) anchored on the use of the first scale published to measure maximization as an individual-difference, and 3) unable to descr…
