Abstract Of 715 cases of vesical tumors reviewed 18 adenocarcinomas were selected for further study, 5 of which fulfilled all criteria of urachal origin. Herein is reported 1 rare case of such a carcinoma of the signet-ring cell type and the morphological criteria of this variant are discussed briefly. After undergoing radical cystectomy and ureterosigmoidostomy the patient has been free of recurrent tumor or metastasis for 6 years.

The aim of this study was to determine predictive factors which might influence outcomes following the reversal of HP. Contralateral increase in thigmotactic scanning following unilateral barrel-cortex lesion in mice.

Adult C57BL/6 mice received uni- or bilateral cryogenic or sham-lesions over the barrel field and their exploratory behaviour was assessed in an open field between 1 and 7 days post-lesion. Bilateral cortical lesions produced a short-lasting increase in thigmotactic scanning with both sides of the face on the first day of testing. Mice with a unilateral barrel-cortex lesion showed more contralateral wall scanning with a recovery to behavioural symmetry after 5-7 days. Furthermore, the increase in contralateral thigmotaxis was most pronounced in animals with damage to the left barrel field, indicative of a lateralization of the lesion-induced behavioural changes. Abstract Background Aim of the study was to describe characteristics and outcomes of Hartmann's procedure (HP) and subsequent intestinal restoration. Methods Retrospective study including all patients who underwent HP over a period of 16 consecutive years. We propose a classification and regression tree for a more accurate view of the relationship between the variables related to intestinal restoration and their weighting in the decision to reverse HP. Ureterosigmoidostomy: an outdated approach to bladder exstrophy?

Long-term results among 46 children with ureterosigmoidostomy are presented. The indication for ureterosigmoidostomy had been bladder exstrophy in 40 patients, incontinent epispadias in 5 and neurogenic bladder dysfunction in 1. Of the 40 patients with bladder exstrophy 8 had undergone ureterosigmoidostomy after failure of other types of urinary tract reconstruction (6 had upper tract dilatation before ureterosigmoidostomy).
