An evaluation of clinical, radiological and three-dimensional dental tomography findings in ectodermal dysplasia cases

2015

Background:This study aimed to review the results related to head and jaw disorders in cases of ectodermal dysplasia. The evaluation of ectodermal dysplasia cases was made by clincal examination and examination of the jaw and facial areas radiologically and on cone-beam 3-dimensional dental tomography (CBCT) images. Material and Methods: In the 36 cases evaluated in the study, typical clinical findings of pure hypohidrotic ectodermal displasia (HED) were seen, such as missing teeth, dry skin, hair and nail disorders. CBCT images were obtained from 12 of the 36 cases, aged 1.5- 45 years, and orthodontic analyses were made on these images. Results: The clinical and radiological evaluations de…

Neural antigens in oligodendrogliomas and dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors

1997

Oligodendrogliomas and dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors (DNT) are frequently associated with epilepsies and share the presence of oligodendroglia-like cells with small round nuclei and optically empty perinuclear halos. The two entities may be difficult to discriminate in small surgical specimens and the origin and differentiation of the oligodendroglia-like cells has been controversial. To better characterize and distinguish the two entities we examined 25 oligodendrogliomas and 16 DNT immunohistochemically for the presence of the proliferation-associated Ki-67 antigen and the following neural antigens: the alpha 1 subunit of the GABAA receptor (GABAR), N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor…

Retinal myelinated nerve fibers associated with macular pseudohole

2008

We report the case of a 24-year-old woman who presented unilateral extensive peripapillary myelinated nerve fibers associated with macular pseudohole and bilateral low myopia. Visual acuity, slit lamp biomicroscopy, automated perimetry, fundus color photography, and optical coherence tomography (Stratus® OCT) were performed. We discuss the clinical findings and diagnostic details of unilateral extensive peripapillary myelinated nerve fibers associated with macular pseudohole.

Disclosure to God as a Mediator Between Private Prayer and Psychological Well-Being in a Christian Sample.

2021

AbstractAlthough a number of studies have reported the psychological and physical benefits of prayer, only a few have examined the means by which prayer affects health. Winkeljohn Black et al. (J Relig Health 54(2):540–553, 2015. 10.1007/s10943-014-9840-4) found disclosure to God as a mediator in the relationship between prayer and mental health. In their study, the authors used Poloma and Pendleton’s (Rev Relig Res 31(1):46–53, 1989. https://doi.org/10.2307/3511023, ) model of prayer. This study examined whether disclosure to God as a mediator can be upheld with Laird et al.’s (Int J Psychol Relig 14(4):251–272, 2004) prayer model. The study included 285 Polish adults (50.2% of women), age…

The aged brain: Genesis and fate of residual progenitor cells in the subventricular zone

2015

Neural stem cells (NSCs) persist in the adult mammalian brain through life. The subventricular zone (SVZ) is the largest source of stem cells in the nervous system, and continuously generates new neuronal and glial cells involved in brain regeneration. During aging, the germinal potential of the SVZ suffers a widespread decline, but the causes of this turn down are not fully understood. This review provides a compilation of the current knowledge about the age-related changes in the NSC population, as well as the fate of the newly generated cells in the aged brain. It is known that the neurogenic capacity is clearly disrupted during aging, while the production of oligodendroglial cells is no…

Akadēmiskās paukošanās ekipējums

2021

Logika algorytmów w świecie pracy ery technologicznej - nowe możliwości i nowe ograniczenia

2022
