Cocrystal trimorphism as a consequence of the orthogonality of halogen- and hydrogen-bonds synthons.

True trimorphic cocrystals, i.e. multi-component molecular crystals of identical composition that exhibit three polymorphic structures, are exceedingly rare and so far no halogen-bonded cocrystal system has been reported to exhibit trimorphism. Here we describe a unique example of a trimorphic cocrystal exhibiting both hydrogen and halogen bonds in which the differences between polymorphs reveal their orthogonality, evident by the apparently independent variation of well-defined hydrogen- and halogen-bonded motifs. peerReviewed

Prediction of properties of chiral compounds by molecular topology

Abstract A common assumption in chemistry is that chiral behavior is associated with 3-D geometry. However, chiral information is related to symmetry, which allows the topological handling of chiral atoms by weighted graphs and the calculation of new descriptors that give a weight to the corresponding entry in the main diagonal of the topological matrix. In this study, it is demonstrated that, operating in this way, chiral topological indices are obtained that can differentiate the pharmacological activity between pairs of enantiomers. Mit Hilfe des Duplikationsverfahrens und durch schrittweise Synthese werden mehrere polymerhomologe Reihen von Diol-oligo-urethanen synthetisiert. Die Anwendbarkeit dieser Methode wird eingehend diskutiert. Die Diol-oligo-urethane werden durch Endgruppenanalyse charakterisiert. Several homologous polymeric series of diol-oligo-urethanes are prepared by the method of duplication and by synthesis step by step. The application of these methods is discussed thoroughly. The diol-oligo-urethanes are characterized by end-group analysis.
Monitoring and data quality assessment of the ATLAS liquid argon calorimeter

The liquid argon calorimeter is a key component of the ATLAS detector installed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The primary purpose of this calorimeter is the measurement of electron and photon kinematic properties. It also provides a crucial input for measuring jets and missing transverse momentum. An advanced data monitoring procedure was designed to quickly identify issues that would affect detector performance and ensure that only the best quality data are used for physics analysis. International audience; Notre objectif ici est d'encourager les concepteurs à s'intéresser aux usages de leur produit en prenant davantage en compte les facteurs humains dans la phase de test qui est souvent focalisée sur les aspects techniques. L'idée dans cette étude est donc de faciliter le recours aux utilisateurs comme source d'évaluation lors des tests de conception en apportant aux concepteurs un environnement logiciel de test pratique à mettre en œuvre pour faire évaluer leurs propres produits par des utilisateurs. Nous avons mené deux expériences de nature à explorer la faisabilité de ce projet.

Ces méthodes complémentaires donnent des résultat dans trois principales directions d'analyse. La capacité fonctionnelle du produit, sa facilité d'utilisation et son esthétique. Dans ce contexte, des méthodes d'analyse des signes qui composent les message permettent d'évoquer des hypothèses qui sont validées ou non à l'aide des méthodes d'observation en situation.
ON SOME GENERALIZATION OF SMOOTHING PROBLEMS

The paper deals with the generalized smoothing problem in abstract Hilbert spaces. This generalized problem involves particular cases such as the interpolating problem, the smoothing problem with weights, the smoothing problem with obstacles, the problem on splines in convex sets and others. The theorem on the existence and characterization of a solution of the generalized problem is proved. It is shown how the theorem gives already known theorems in special cases as well as some new results.
