A Viscoelastic Model for the Long-Term Deflection of Segmental Prestressed Box Girders

Most of segmental prestressed concrete box girders exhibit excessive multidecade deflections unforeseeable by past and current design codes. To investigate such a behavior, mainly caused by creep and shrinkage phenomena, an effective finite element (FE) formulation is presented in this article. This formulation is developed by invoking the stationarity of an energetic principle for linear viscoelastic problems and relies on the Bazant creep constitutive law. Object Classification Technique for mmWave FMCW Radars using Range-FFT Features

In this article, we present a novel target classification technique by mmWave frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) Radars using the Machine Learning on raw data features obtained from range fast Fourier transform (FFT) plot. FFT plots are extracted from the measured raw data obtained with a Radar operating in the frequency range of 77- 81 GHz. The features such as peak, width, area, standard deviation, and range on range FFT plot peaks are extracted and fed to a machine learning model. Efficient mesoscale hydrodynamics: Multiparticle collision dynamics with massively parallel GPU acceleration

Abstract We present an efficient open-source implementation of the multiparticle collision dynamics (MPCD) algorithm that scales to run on hundreds of graphics processing units (GPUs). We especially focus on optimizations for modern GPU architectures and communication patterns between multiple GPUs. We show that a mixed-precision computing model can improve performance compared to a fully double-precision model while still providing good numerical accuracy. We report weak and strong scaling benchmarks of a reference MPCD solvent and a benchmark of a polymer solution with research-relevant interactions and system size. Graphical interface for designing geometries and processing DICOM images for PENELOPE

One of he most difficult steps when preparing a Monte Carlo calculation is the design of their geometries. Such process is an error-prone, time-consuming, and complex step for any simulation in the field of medical physics. The software VoxelMages has been developed to help the user in this complex task. It allows to design arbitrary geometries and to process DICOM image files for simulations with the general-purpose Monte Carlo code PENELOPE. Its main characteristics are described in the following.

Hard real-time systems require tasks to finish in time. To guarantee the timeliness of such a system, static timing analyses derive upper bounds on the worst-case execution time (WCET) of tasks. There are two types of timing analyses: numeric and parametric. A numeric analysis derives a numeric timing bound and, to this end, assumes all information such as loop bounds to be given a priori. If these bounds are unknown during analysis time, a parametric analysis can compute a timing formula parametric in these variables. Robustness of texture parameters for color texture analysis

This article proposes to deal with noisy and variable size color textures. It also proposes to deal with quantization methods and to see how such methods change final results. The method we use to analyze the robustness of the textures consists of an auto-classification of modified textures. Texture parameters are computed for a set of original texture samples and stored into a database. Such a database is created for each quantization method.
