Anisotropic Heisenberg chain with composite spin
1986
A family of one-dimensional magnetic Hamiltonians is introduced, where at each site there are $n$ spin-$S$ operators. It is shown that, for special couplings between spins and for $S=\frac{1}{2}$, the model contains the complete spectrum of the Heisenberg chain with spins \textonehalf{}, 1, frac32;, etc., and the ground state is that of the corresponding Heisenberg chain. By the varying of a single parameter the model allows continuous transitions between chains with different spin. We map the spin-($S+S$) model onto the nonlinear $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ model and discuss the possibility of a finite gap in the spin-(\textonehalf{}+\textonehalf{}) model.
Asymptotic normalization of mirror states and the effect of couplings
2011
Assuming that the ratio between asymptotic normalization coefficients of mirror states is model independent, charge symmetry can be used to indirectly extract astrophysically relevant proton capture reactions on proton-rich nuclei based on information on stable isotopes. The assumption has been tested for light nuclei within the microscopic cluster model. In this work we explore the Hamiltonian independence of the ratio between asymptotic normalization coefficients of mirror states when deformation and core excitation is introduced in the system. For this purpose we consider a phenomenological rotor + N model where the valence nucleon is subject to a deformed mean field and the core is allo…
Asymptotic normalization coefficients and halo radii of12B in the excited states
2017
We present the results of measurements and analysis of the differential cross sections of the 11 B(d, p )12 B reaction leading to formation of the 1+ ground state and the 0.953-MeV 2+ , 1.674-MeV 2− , 2.621-MeV 1− , 2.723-MeV 0+ , 3.389-MeV 3− excited states of 12 B at Ed = 21.5 MeV. The analysis of the data was carried out within the coupled-reaction-channels method for the direct neutron transfer and the Hauser-Feshbach formalism of the statistical compound-nucleus model. We deduced the spectroscopic factors, asymptotic normalization coefficients, and rms radii of the last neutron in all states studied. The existence of the neutron halos in the 1.674-MeV 2− and 2.621-MeV 1− states was fou…

αdecay studies of the nuclides195Rnand196Rn
2001
The new neutron deficient nuclide ${}^{195}\mathrm{Rn}$ and the nuclide ${}^{196}\mathrm{Rn}$ have been produced in fusion evaporation reactions using ${}^{56}\mathrm{Fe}$ ions on ${}^{142}\mathrm{Nd}$ targets. A gas-filled recoil separator was used to separate the fusion products from the scattered beam. The activities were implanted in a position sensitive silicon detector. The isotopes were identified using spatial and time correlations between implants and decays. Two $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ decaying isomeric states, with ${E}_{\ensuremath{\alpha}}=7536(11)\mathrm{keV}[{T}_{1/2}{=(6}_{\ensuremath{-}2}^{+3})\mathrm{ms}]$ for the ground state and ${E}_{\ensuremath{\alpha}}=7555(11)\mathrm{k…
Electron-capture branch ofTc100and tests of nuclear wave functions for double-βdecays
2008
We present a measurement of the electron-capture branch of $^{100}\mathrm{Tc}$. Our value, $B(\mathrm{EC})=(2.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$, implies that the $^{100}\mathrm{Mo}$ neutrino absorption cross section to the ground state of $^{100}\mathrm{Tc}$ is roughly 50% larger than previously thought. Disagreement between the experimental value and QRPA calculations relevant to double-$\ensuremath{\beta}$ decay matrix elements persists. We find agreement with previous measurements of the 539.5- and 590.8-keV $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray intensities.
Octupole correlations in the structure of02+bands in theN=88nuclei150Sm and152Gd
2013
Knowledge of the exact microscopic structure of the 0${}_{1}$${}^{+}$ ground state and first excited 0${}_{2}$${}^{+}$ state in ${}^{150}$Sm is required to understand the branching of double \ensuremath{\beta} decay to these states from ${}^{150}$Nd. The detailed spectroscopy of ${}^{150}$Sm and ${}^{152}$Gd has been studied using (\ensuremath{\alpha},xn) reactions and the \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray arrays AFRODITE and JUROGAM II. Consistently strong $E$1 transitions are observed between the excited ${K}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}$ $=$ 0${}_{2}$${}^{+}$ bands and the lowest negative parity bands in both nuclei. These results are discussed in terms of the possible permanent octupole deformation in the …
In-beam study of 254No
1999
Excited states of the Z = 102 nuclide 254No have been studied in the reaction 208Pb(48Ca,2n) by means of in-beam γ -ray spectroscopy in combination with recoil gating and recoil decay tagging. A Ge detector array, consisting of four clover detectors, and a gas-filled separator were used. Six γ-ray lines were observed and associated with E2 transitions in the ground state band of 254No, the highest-lying of these being the 16+→ 14+ transition. Based on global systematics and the extrapolated 2+ 1 excitation energy, the value β2= 0.27 ± 0.03 was extracted for the quadrupole deformation. An improved value for the half-life of 254No, T1/2= (48 ± 3) s, was determined.
Shape evolution in116,118Ru: Triaxiality and transition between the O(6) and U(5) dynamical symmetries
2013
${}^{116}\mathrm{Ru}$ and ${}^{118}\mathrm{Ru}$ have been studied via $\ensuremath{\beta}$-delayed $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray spectroscopy of nuclei produced in fragmentation reactions at the Radioactive Ion-Beam Factory (RIBF) facility. Level schemes with positive-parity states up to spin $J=6$ have been constructed. The results have been discussed in terms of the interacting boson model, the algebraic collective model, and total Routhian surfaces. We conclude that the very neutron-rich nuclei still show many features associated with triaxial $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-soft nuclei, represented by the O(6) symmetry, but are approaching a spherical structure, the U(5) symmetry, with increasing neu…
Spectroscopy ofB13via theC13(t,He3)reaction at115AMeV
2009
Gamow-Teller and dipole transitions to final states in $^{13}\mathrm{B}$ were studied via the $^{13}\mathrm{C}(t,^{3}\mathrm{He})$ reaction at ${E}_{t}=115A$ MeV. In addition to the strong Gamow-Teller transition to the $^{13}\mathrm{B}$ ground state, a weaker Gamow-Teller transition to a state at 3.6 MeV was found. This state was assigned a spin-parity of $3/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ by comparison with shell-model calculations using the WBP and WBT interactions which were modified to allow for mixing between $n\ensuremath{\hbar}\ensuremath{\omega}$ and $(n+2)\ensuremath{\hbar}\ensuremath{\omega}$ configurations. This assignment agrees with a recent result from a lifetime measurement of excited…
