Communication of Loneliness Emotions in the Online Vlogs and Their Moral Value

2019

Using the method of visual narrative analysis and the grounded theory, the answers are searched for the questions—what are the most typical emotional experiences that go with the representation of loneliness in the public digital communication and how the modern communication technologies are enabling these representations? The analysis allows to understand what has been the most desired for the young people and what is wished but not acquired (or lost) subject or experience which resulted in the loneliness. Finally, the attention is paid to the loneliness performance’s possible role in creating a digital culture and making moral sense to existential and difficult subjective experience whic…

A gauge-technique Ansatz for the three gluon vertex of the background field method

2011

The vertex connecting one background gluon with two quantum ones constitutes a central ingredient in the gauge-invariant Schwinger-Dyson equation that determines the non-perturbative dynamics of the gluon propagator. This vertex satisfies a Ward identity with respect to the background gluon, and a Slavnov-Taylor identity with respect to the two quantum gluons. We present a complete Ansatz for this vertex, which satisfies both aforementioned identities. This entire construction depends crucially on a set of constraints relating the various form-factors of the ghost Green's functions appearing in the Slavnov-Taylor identity satisfied by the vertex. The validity of these constraints is demonst…

Random Vibrations of Structures under Propagating Excitations

1995

The problem of vibrations of structures under incoherent or, in particular, propagating excitations is important for large, extended civil engineering structures like bridges, lifelines, dams, offshore structures or for aircraft structures. In seismic engineering spatial ground motion models have been studied for more than a decade but credible, stochastic characteristics are available only since SMART-1 accelerograph array is in operation at Lotung in Taiwan.

Analytic UHF-CCSD(T) second derivatives: implementation and application to the calculation of the vibration-rotation interaction constants of NCO and…

1998

An implementation of analytic open-shell UHF-CCSD(T) second derivatives is presented. To demonstrate applicability and test the accuracy of the UHF-CCSD(T) approach for the determination of spectroscopical parameters, vibration-rotation interaction constants were calculated for the ground (12Π) and first electronically excited (12Σ) states of the NCO and NCS radicals. In addition, harmonic vibrational frequencies for both states, the Renner-Teller parameter for the ground state, as well as the 12Π→12Σ excitation energy are reported. While the computed values are in good agreement with reliable experimental information for NCO, most of the data presented for NCS are predictions of quantities…

Aerosolu piesārņojuma un trokšņa līmeņa novērtējums bērnu rotaļu laukumos Rīgas centrā

2019

Assessment of vine development according to available water resources by using remote sensing in La Mancha, Spain

1999

Abstract The relevance of growing vines under semiarid conditions is universally accepted because of its impacts on social, economic and environmental aspects. Improving the knowledge of the soil–plant–atmosphere system related to the expression of vine growth allows the study of vine cover in wide areas. Several aspects of vine growing under semiarid conditions, related to weather, soil, and plant cover are analysed in this paper. Once the ground truth is achieved, multitemporal studies by remote sensing are especially useful for vine growth monitoring. The purpose of this work is focussed on determining changes of vine cover development according to available water resources in relation t…

Improving structural similarity based virtual screening using background knowledge

2013

Background Virtual screening in the form of similarity rankings is often applied in the early drug discovery process to rank and prioritize compounds from a database. This similarity ranking can be achieved with structural similarity measures. However, their general nature can lead to insufficient performance in some application cases. In this paper, we provide a link between ranking-based virtual screening and fragment-based data mining methods. The inclusion of binding-relevant background knowledge into a structural similarity measure improves the quality of the similarity rankings. This background knowledge in the form of binding relevant substructures can either be derived by hand selec…

The Early Years Home Learning Environment – Associations With Parent-Child-Course Attendance and Children’s Vocabulary at Age 3

2020

Although many studies investigated the effects of the home learning environment (HLE) in the preschool years, the constructs that underlie the HLE in the years before the age of three and its effects on language development are still poorly understood. This study therefore investigated the dimensionality of the HLE at age two, its relation to the attendance of low threshold parent-child-courses, and its importance for children's vocabulary development between age 2 and 3 years against the background of differing family background characteristics. Using data from 1,013 children and their families of the Newborn Cohort of the German National Educational Panel Study, structural equation modeli…

In situ Volcano Monitoring: Present and Future

2015

During the last couple of decades, volcanology has evolved significantly, allowing for an improved understanding of volcanic processes preceding, accompanying and following eruptive events. Key elements to these achievements are the huge amounts of high quality data being collected by networks of increasingly sensitive instruments deployed at active volcanoes. The diffusion of continuous, precise measurements of: (1) wide-band ground displacement; (2) flux and chemistry of volatile emissions; and (3) the spatio-temporal variations of potential fields (e.g., gravity) now permit imaging the mechanism that controls mass transfer underneath volcanoes to an unprecedented level of detail. Projected WIMP sensitivity of the XENONnT dark matter experiment

2020

XENONnT is a dark matter direct detection experiment, utilizing 5.9 t of instrumented liquid xenon, located at the INFN Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso. In this work, we predict the experimental background and project the sensitivity of XENONnT to the detection of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). The expected average differential background rate in the energy region of interest, corresponding to (1, 13) keV and (4, 50) keV for electronic and nuclear recoils, amounts to 12.3 ± 0.6 (keV t y)-1 and (2.2± 0.5)× 10−3 (keV t y)-1, respectively, in a 4 t fiducial mass. We compute unified confidence intervals using the profile construction method, in order to ensure proper coverage…
