Optimization of the JUNO liquid scintillator composition using a Daya Bay antineutrino detector

To maximize the light yield of the liquid scintillator (LS) for the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 t LS sample was produced in a pilot plant at Daya Bay. The optical properties of the new LS in various compositions were studied by replacing the gadolinium-loaded LS in one antineutrino detector. The concentrations of the fluor, PPO, and the wavelength shifter, bis-MSB, were increased in 12 steps from 0.5 g/L and <0.01 mg/L to 4 g/L and 13 mg/L, respectively. Measurement of the average shape of longitudinal profiles of cosmic-ray air showers at the Pierre Auger Observatory

The profile of the longitudinal development of showers produced by ultra-high energy cosmic rays carries information related to the interaction properties of the primary particles with atmospheric nuclei. In this work, we present the first measurement of the average shower profile in traversed atmospheric depth at the Pierre Auger Observatory. The shapes of profiles are well reproduced by the Gaisser-Hillas parametrization within the range studied, for E>10 17.8 eV .A detailed analysis of the systematic uncertainties is performed using ten years of data and a full detector simulation. Pułkownik Zbigniew Jacorzyński to postać wybitnie zasłużona dla polskiego pożarnictwa. Urodził się 8 sierpnia 1921 roku w Cieszynie. Był synem oficera Wojska Polskiego. Helena Radlińska była zasłużoną bohaterką “drugiej linii” podczas drugiej wojny światowej. Jej działalność była bardzo ważna dla cywilnego i wojskowego konspiracyjnego ruchu podziemnego. Organizowała konspiracyjne formy edukacyjne dla młodzieży i dorosłych, jak w szczególności kursy nauczycielskie, studia społeczne, kursy „mazurskie”. Tutkimuksemme on osa ”Ohjauksen ja työelämätaitojen kehittäminen korkea-asteella”- hanketta ja se toteutettiin ”Valmis tutkinto työelämävalttina”-hankkeessa. Tutkimuksemme kohdejoukkona on hankkeessa toteutettu maantieteen opiskelijoille suunnattu uraohjausryhmä. Tutkimuksemme tarkoituksena on kuvata uraohjausryhmää yliopisto-opiskelijoiden ammatillisen identiteetin tukijana. .Single-Ion Magnetic Behaviour in an Iron(III) Porphyrin Complex: A Dichotomy Between High Spin and 5/2-3/2 Spin Admixture

International audience; A mononuclear iron(III) porphyrin compound exhibiting unexpectedly slow magnetic relaxation, which is a characteristic of single-ion magnet behaviour, is reported. This behaviour originates from the close proximity (approximate to 550 cm(-1)) of the intermediate-spinS=3/2 excited states to the high-spinS=5/2 ground state. More quantitatively, although the ground state is mostlyS=5/2, a spin-admixture model evidences a sizable contribution (approximate to 15 %) ofS=3/2 to the ground state, which as a consequence experiences large and positive axial anisotropy (D=+19.2 cm(-1)). This paper explores humor and laughter as sites of search for common ground and power positioning in the context of Finnish-Chinese co-operation. It is mainly based on the data obtained by interviewing individuals who work either for local governments in Finland or one of the state agencies responsible for attracting foreign investment. The study uses Positioning theory by Harré (1991) and Politeness theory by Brown and Levinson (1987) when analyzing expressions regarding humor between the Finns and the Chinese.
