A validated bioenergetics model for ruffeGymnocephalus cernuusand its application to a northern lake

A bioenergetics model was constructed for ruffe Gymnocephalus cernuus, and the model was used to estimate the food consumption of a native G. cernuus stock in Pyhajarvi, a large mesotrophic lake in south-west Finland. The parameters for the bioenergetics model were determined through laboratory experiments conducted at several temperatures between 5 and 22° C for different sized G. cernuus (from 6 to 27 g). The model was verified and validated with independent laboratory growth experiments. The validated model was applied to field data from Pyhajarvi to estimate the food consumption of G. cernuus and its effects on the zoobenthos community during the years 2002–2004. Terpenoid composition and chemotaxonomic aspects of Miocene amber from the Koroglu Mountains, Turkey

Abstract A recently discovered fossil resin from Koroglu Mountain in Turkey has been analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry and pyrolysis gas chromatography–mass spectrometry to determine its structural class and botanical origin. The sesqui- and diterpenoids contained in the amber extract were used as chemosystematic markers when compared with terpenoids in extant conifers. The pyrolysis products were dominated by labdanoid derived bicyclic products together with succinic acid indicating Class Ia type amber. A mesocosm experiment was used to investigate the effect of terrestrial-origin dissolved organic matter (DOM) on the development of dinoflagellates in natural summer phytoplankton from the Gulf of Riga. Seawater was collected in the central part of the Gulf of Riga and at the entrance of the Gulf in June 1999. DOM was extracted from Parnu River water by use of tangential ultrafiltration. Experimental series were enriched with DOM, DOM in combination with nitrate and phosphate, and only with inorganic nutrients. Enrichments were added in ranges of their natural concentrations. Celem przeprowadzonych badań była ocena poziomu zanieczyszczenia wybranymi metalami ciężkimi: Zn, Ni, Cd i Pb terenów leśnych gminy Twardogóra. Miasto Twardogóra położone jest w północno-wschodniej części województwa dolnośląskiego, lasy stanowią 44% całej powierzchni gminy. Porosty Hypogymnia physodes oraz mchy Pleurozium schreberi pobrane zostały z 32 miejsc zlokalizowanych w pobliżu wsi Gola, Goszcz, Grabowno Wielkie oraz Sosnówka. Wybrane metale ciężkie (Ni, Zn, Cd i Pb) oznaczono metodą absorpcyjnej spektroskopii atomowej. Keskivartalon lihaksilla on tärkeä merkitys jokapäiväisessä elämässä kehon tukijana ja tasapainon säilyttäjänä. Keskivartalon lihasten harjoittamisen tärkeys korostuu selkävaivaisilla ja tasapainohäiriöistä kärsivillä henkilöillä, joilla lihasten heikkous on jo aiheuttanut ongelmia. Heillä lihasten harjoittaminen voi olla heikkoudesta aiheutuneiden rajoitteiden vuoksi vaikeampaa. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa, miten englannin kielen vaikutus näkyy yläasteikäisten ja lukioikäisten kirjoittamissa ruotsinkielisissä teksteissä leksikaalisella tasolla. Lisäksi tutki-muksessa tarkasteltiin ruotsinopettajien asenteita englannin kielen vaikutusta kohtaan ruotsin kielessä. Opettajien asenteita tutkittiin nettikyselyn avulla ja kyselyyn osallistui yhteensä 156 opettajaa. Oppilastekstit valittiin A1- ja A2-tasoilta ja tekstejä oli yhteensä 115. Tutkimustulok-set analysoitiin sekä kvantitatiivisin että kvalitatiivisin menetelmin.
