Analysis of oscillations in discontinuous Lurie systems via LPRS method

We discuss advantages and limitations of the harmonic balance method and the locus of a perturbed relay system (LPRS) method in the problem of finding periodic oscillations. In this paper we present the results of using harmonic balance method and LPRS method while investigating a 3rd order dynamic system in Lurie form. In this system a symmetric periodic oscillation is found, while other two asymmetric periodic motions are not found using both methods.

Synchronizing Quantum Harmonic Oscillators through Two-Level Systems

Two oscillators coupled to a two-level system which in turn is coupled to an infinite number of oscillators (reservoir) are considered, bringing to light the occurrence of synchronization. A detailed analysis clarifies the physical mechanism that forces the system to oscillate at a single frequency with a predictable and tunable phase difference. Finally, the scheme is generalized to the case of $N$ oscillators and $M(<N)$ two-level systems.

Observation of two-XUV-photon ionization using harmonic generation from a short, intense laser pulse

We report the observation of a two-photon ionization process in the XUV wavelength regime. In a near-resonant 1 + 1 ionization scheme, Ar atoms are ionized absorbing the 15 eV third harmonic photons produced in a gas jet by the 0.5 ps intense laser pulses of a KrF excimer laser emitting at 248.6 nm. The present demonstration of a non-linear process in the XUV regime reveals feasibility of high-intensity applications utilizing the uniquely high peak power of non-conventional short wavelength radiation sources based on harmonic generation.

Harmonic Generation and Nonlinear Propagation: When Secondary Radiations Have Primary Consequences

In this Letter, it is experimentally and theoretically shown that weak odd harmonics generated during the propagation of an infrared ultrashort ultraintense pulse unexpectedly modify the nonlinear properties of the medium and lead to a strong modification of the propagation dynamics. This result is in contrast with all current state-of-the-art propagation model predictions, in which secondary radiations, such as third harmonic, are expected to have a negligible action upon the fundamental pulse propagation. Anti-dynamical Casimir effect with an ensemble of qubits

Abstract We consider the interaction between a single cavity mode and N ≫ 1 identical qubits, assuming that any system parameter can be rapidly modulated in situ by external bias. It is shown that, for the qubits initially in the ground states, three photons can be coherently annihilated in the dispersive regime for harmonic modulation with frequency 3 ω 0 − Ω 0 , where ω 0 ( Ω 0 ) is the bare cavity (qubit) frequency. This phenomenon can be called “Anti-dynamical Casimir effect”, since a pair of excitations is destroyed without dissipation due to the external modulation. Symmetries in harmonic generation by a two-color field: an application to a simple model atom

We show that the parity of the order of the harmonics generated by a bichromatic field with commensurate frequencies may be related to the invariance properties of the time-dependent Hamiltonian with respect to some suitable transformations. To simplify the mathematical treatment, we have used a simple model atom to perform calculations that show the effects of the relative phase of the driving fields. Harmonic generation has been described as a two-step process that involves replicas of the Stark levels. Laser even harmonics generation by a plasma embedded in a static electric field

Even order harmonics generation of the laser radiation due to electron-ion collisions in a plasma embedded in a constant electric field is investigated theoretically. Even harmonics are generated because the presence of a static electric field removes the invariance of the electron distribution function under the symmetry operation of velocity direction inversion. 𝒟 $\mathcal {D}$ -Deformed Harmonic Oscillators

We analyze systematically several deformations arising from two-dimensional harmonic oscillators which can be described in terms of $\cal{D}$-pseudo bosons. They all give rise to exactly solvable models, described by non self-adjoint hamiltonians whose eigenvalues and eigenvectors can be found adopting the quite general framework of the so-called $\cal{D}$-pseudo bosons. In particular, we show that several models previously introduced in the literature perfectly fit into this scheme.

Spin Currents injected electrically and thermally from highly spin polarized Co$_2$MnSi

We demonstrate the injection and detection of electrically and thermally generated spin currents probed in Co$_2$MnSi/Cu lateral spin valves. Devices with different electrode separations are patterned to measure the non-local signal as a function of the electrode spacing and we determine a relatively high effective spin polarization $\alpha$ of Co$_2$MnSi to be 0.63 and the spin diffusion length of Cu to be 500 nm at room temperature. The electrically generated non-local signal is measured as a function of temperature and a maximum signal is observed for a temperature of 80 K. Amplification of nonlinear currents generation at harmonics frequencies of submillimeter radiation

The conditions are found when rapid heating of the electrons of a degenerate semiconductor in the presence of two electric fields, one constant and the other variable, is accompanied by the formation of a distribution function significantly departing from the Fermi one. It is also shown that the newly found modification of the electron distribution yields a relative amplification of nonlinear currents generation.
