Efficiency optimization in bi-directional inductive power transfer systems

2015

Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) allows to wirelessly supply electronic devices. Thus, it is a very smart technique of battery charging for electric vehicles. In a parking area scenario, IPT is a proper method aiming at the energy transfer from the vehicle battery to the electric grid too. Bi-Directional Inductive Power Transfer (BDIPT) Systems are an attractive solution for the automotive market. Due to the great relevance of the energy saving problem, the goal of an efficiency maximization is researched by the energy market. In this paper, an in-depth investigation of the power efficiency in BDIPT systems is carried out, aiming at the optimum efficiency.

A 9-level three-phase multilevel converter with harmonic mitigation and integrated battery balancing

2019

In this paper, a 9 level three-phase multilevel converter with a harmonic mitigation control method and an integrated battery balancing algorithm for automotive purpose is proposed. Each level of the converter is composed by a buck-boost converter and an h-bridge in cascaded connection. The control algorithm is implemented to achieve the harmonic mitigation on the output voltage waveform and to maintain the battery input voltages balanced. The design and operation of the system is described, and simulation study is reported using Matlab/Simulink platform.

An ab initio potential energy surface for the C2H2-N2 system

2012

International audience; An ab initio potential energy surface determined at the CCSD(T) level of theory is presented for the van der Waals complex C2H2-N2. Additional calculations performed with the HF- and DFT-SAPT methods compare well with the CCSD(T) results and allow a better understanding of the main features of this interaction potential surface. An expansion of this surface over spherical harmonics has also been performed. The global energy minimum of the complex is obtained for the linear conformation. The T conformations are the least attractive. Such characteristics mainly arise because of the variation, in sign and in absolute value of the electrostatic energy between all these c…

Non-supersymmetric Extremal Black Holes: First-Order Flows and Stabilisation Equations

2013

We review the results of [1, 2] on reducing the second-order equations of motion for stationary extremal black holes in four-dimensional \({\textit{N}}\,=\,2\) supergravity to first-order flow equations and further to non-differential stabilisation equations.

Equation-of-motion coupled-cluster methods for ionized states with an approximate treatment of triple excitations.

2005

The accuracy of geometries and harmonic vibrational frequencies is evaluated for two equation-of-motion ionization potential coupled-cluster methods including CC3 and CCSDT-3 triples corrections. The first two Sigma states and first Pi state of the N2 +, CO+, CN, and BO diatomic radicals are studied. The calculations show a tendency for the CC3 variant to overestimate the bond lengths and to underestimate the vibrational frequencies, while the CCSDT-3 variant seems to be more reliable. It is also demonstrated that the accuracy of such methods is comparable to sophisticated traditional multireference approaches and the full configuration interaction method.

Alternative single-reference coupled cluster approaches for multireference problems: the simpler, the better.

2011

We report a general implementation of alternative formulations of single-reference coupled cluster theory (extended, unitary, and variational) with arbitrary-order truncation of the cluster operator. These methods are applied to compute the energy of Ne and the equilibrium properties of HF and C(2). Potential energy curves for the dissociation of HF and the BeH(2) model computed with the extended, variational, and unitary coupled cluster approaches are compared to those obtained from the multireference coupled cluster approach of Mukherjee et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 110, 6171 (1999)] and the internally contracted multireference coupled cluster approach [F. A. Evangelista and J. Gauss, J. Chem. …

Driven Bose-Hubbard Model with a Parametrically Modulated Harmonic Trap

2016

We investigate a one-dimensional Bose–Hubbard model in a parametrically driven global harmonic trap. The delicate interplay of both the local interaction of the atoms in the lattice and the driving of the global trap allows us to control the dynamical stability of the trapped quantum many-body state. The impact of the atomic interaction on the dynamical stability of the driven quantum many-body state is revealed in the regime of weak interaction by analyzing a discretized Gross–Pitaevskii equation within a Gaussian variational ansatz, yielding a Mathieu equation for the condensate width. The parametric resonance condition is shown to be modified by the atom interaction strength. In particul…

Fundamental solutions for general anisotropic multi-field materials based on spherical harmonics expansions

2016

Abstract A unified method to evaluate the fundamental solutions for generally anisotropic multi-field materials is presented. Based on the relation between the Rayleigh expansion and the three-dimensional Fourier representation of a homogenous partial differential operator, the proposed technique allows to obtain the fundamental solutions and their derivatives up to the desired order as convergent series of spherical harmonics. For a given material, the coefficients of the series are computed only once, and the derivatives of the fundamental solutions are obtained without any term-by-term differentiation, making the proposed approach attractive for boundary integral formulations and efficie…

Subharmonic and homoclinic bifurcations in the driven and damped sine-Gordon system

1999

Abstract Chaotic responses induced by an applied biharmonic driven signal on the sine-Gordon (sG) system influenced by a constant dc-driven and the damping fields are investigated using a collective coordinate approach for the motion of the breather in the system. For this biharmonic signal, one term has a large amplitude at low frequency. Thus, the classical Melnikov method does not apply to such a system; however, we use the modified version of the Melnikov method to homoclinic bifurcations of the perturbed sG system. Additionally resonant breathers are studied using the modified subharmonic Melnikov theory. This dynamic behavior is illustrated by some numerical computations.

A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN ´ BIHARMONIC BEZIER SURFACES AND BIHARMONIC EXTREMAL SURFACES

2009

AbstractGiven a prescribed boundary of a Bezier surface, we compare the Bezier surfaces generated by two different methods, i.e., the Bezier surface minimising the biharmonic functional and the unique Bezier surface solution of the biharmonic equation with prescribed boundary. Although often the two types of surfaces look visually the same, we show that they are indeed different. In this paper, we provide a theoretical argument showing why the two types of surfaces are not always the same.
