High-end colorimetric display characterization using an adaptive training set

2011

A new, accurate, and technology-independent display color-characterization model is introduced. It is based on polyharmonic spline interpolation and on an optimized adaptive training data set. The establishment of this model is fully automatic and requires only a few minutes, making it efficient in a practical situation. The experimental results are very good for both the forward and inverse models. Typically, the proposed model yields an average model prediction error of about 1 ∆Eab* unit or below for several displays. The maximum error is shown to be low as well. freedom given to the model considering the choice of a tar- get color space and of the kernel and smoothing factor for the int…

Laminations and tilings of the Hyperbolic upper half plane

2005

This thesis is devoted to the study of dynamical systems associated with tilings of theEuclidean plane or of the Hyperbolic half-plane. A such tiling codes an action of a group ofisometries (namely the group of translations of the plane or the group of affine maps) on a compactmetric space $\Omega$ such that the properties of this action are related with the combinatoricproperties of the tiling. The behaviors of the actions obtained by this way are really various. Insome cases, like for example for the Penrose's tiling, this action is free and minimal. This givesto the set $\Omega$ a structure of a specific lamination called {\it solenoid}. This space islocally the product of a Cantor set w…

Experimental and numerical enhancement of Vibrational Resonance in a neural circuit

2012

International audience; A neural circuit exactly ruled by the FitzHugh-Nagumo equations is excited by a biharmonic signal of frequencies f and F with respective amplitudes A and B. The magnitude spectrum of the circuit response is estimated at the low frequency driving f and presents a resonant behaviour versus the amplitude B of the high frequency. For the first time, it is shown experimentally that this Vibrational Resonance effect is much more pronounced when the two frequencies are multiple. This novel enhancement is also confirmed by numerical predictions. Applications of this nonlinear effect to the detection of weak stimuli are finally discussed.

Parabolic pulse generation through passive reshaping of gaussian pulses in a normally dispersive fiber

2007

We numerically and experimentally demonstrate that a Gaussian pulse can be reshaped into a pulse with a stable parabolic intensity profile during propagation in normally dispersive nonlinear fibers.

High third and second order non linearities of chalcogenide glasses and fibers for compact infrared non linear devices.

2008

Due to their intrinsic nature, chalcogenide glasses present attractive nonlinearities from third and second order, with values reaching between 10 and 1000 times those of silica. We present a study of their properties and their shaping with the purpose to reach efficient devices in the near-mid infrared.

Orientation of Polar Molecules by Laser Induced Adiabatic Passage

2002

International audience; We show that two overlapping linearly polarized laser pulses of frequencies ω and its second harmonic 2ω can strongly orient linear polar molecules, by adiabatic passage along dressed states. The resulting robust orientation can be interpreted as a laser-induced localization in the effective double well potential created by the fields, which induces a preliminary molecular alignment. The direction of the orientation can be selected by the relative phase of the fields.

Optical Cavity-Less 40-GHz Picosecond Pulse Generator in the Visible Wavelength Range

2019

International audience; High-repetition-rate optical frequency-comb sources emitting picosecond pulses play important roles in variousscientific researches and industrial applications. Such ultrafast pulse sources are mostly generated in opticalcavities or microresonators. By means of the wavelength-conversion techniques, it is possible to transfer thecavity-based near-IR robust and compact sources to the mid-IR or to the visible wavelength regions [1-2], forwhich there is an increasing demand, for biophotonics and other applications. Here we demonstrate the generationof high-repetition-rate picosecond pulses in the visible wavelength range by using a fully optical cavity-lessconfiguration.…

High Order Harmonic Passive Mode-Locking In Double-Clad Fiber Laser

2009

We report passive mode-locking of a soliton erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser operating at the 322nd harmonic of the fundamental cavity frequency. Repetition rates scalable up to 3 GHz have been obtained with a pulse duration of about 1 ps and a pulse energy of about 18 pJ. The supermode suppression at the 322nd harmonic is better than 25 dB. The dynamics of emergence of this operating regime is also presented revealing a very long timescale.
