The Stakes Today

This is the second chapter where the directors included in the book themselves take the floor. They try to define the issues that contemporary theatre faces today, especially in its relationship with the new off-stage realities. They also dwell on how theatre retains, develops and re-imagines its role of a defender of humanity and harmony in an increasingly disharmonious society. All this is especially shared for the readers of this book. Only in the case of the late Lithuanian director Eimuntas Nekrosius are excerpts of existing interviews with him and about him used.

Economical Issues Regarding the Implementation and Functioning of the Common Catalogue of Varieties of Agricultural Plant Species

Abstract Economical constraints regarding the full implementation and functioning of the common catalogue on plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGEFA) are discussed in this paper based on the assessment of the current European Union regulatory framework. Based on this article's results new financial mechanisms should be developed at the national level for further responding to the European requirements including measures regarding the conservation varieties. This assessment is further supporting the need for developing and implementing new financial mechanisms in the support of the poor rural populations as well as for small farmers in harmony with commercial agriculture.

The so-called “Rhyming Weavers” were artisan poets, mainly writing in the 18th and 19th centuries. John Hewitt’s Rhyming Weavers & Other Country Poets of Antrim and Down (1974) has played a crucial role in defining this group of writers, both in terms of who they were – Ulster-Scots poets of a particular region in the North of Ireland – and with respect to their achievement. From the first century BCE onwards, philosophers started to write commentaries on those Aristotle’s treatises that were meant for the internal use of his school. Plato’s works had been commented on already earlier, the first reported commentary originates in the 300s BCE. Commentaries are treatises that follow an object text in a more or less linear fashion. Entering a World with No Future: A phenomenological study describing the embodied experience of time when living with severe incurable disease

This article presents findings from a phenomenological study exploring experience of time by patients living close to death. The empirical data consist of 26 open-ended interviews from 23 patients living with severe incurable disease receiving palliative care in Norway. Three aspects of experience of time were revealed as prominent: (i) Entering a world with no future; living close to death alters perception of and relationship to time.
