Isolation and characterization of pluripotent cells from the subendocardial layer of human hearts from chronic heart failure.

Purpose: Several literature reports indicated the existence of pluripotent cells residing into the heart wall, even if in vivo heart regeneration is still a poorly comprised phenomenon. Post-infarct chronic heart failure is a pathology for which heart transplant remains a key option of clinical intervention. The amount of data collected in recent years forces researchers to better characterize the properties of adult stem cells, especially for those isolated from heart. The fonds of National Library of Russia include a Register of Brotherhood of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Polotsk. Besides the list of members, the manuscript includes a number of documents important for operation of the congregation. The Brotherhood operated in 1794-1818; it was run by Jesuits, who survived disbanding of the order in 1773. Membership list of the Brotherhood (approx. 11 thousand) shows a crosssection of Polish community, living mostly in territories captured by Russia after First Partition of Poland. Purpose Sleep restriction is increasingly common and associated with the development of health problems. We investigated how the neuroendocrine stress systems respond to prolonged sleep restriction and subsequent recovery sleep in healthy young men. Methods After two baseline (BL) nights of 8 h time in bed (TIB), TIB was restricted to 4 h per night for five nights (sleep restriction, SR, n = 15), followed by three recovery nights (REC) of 8 h TIB, representing a busy workweek and a recovery weekend.
