Skin Sodium Accumulates in Psoriasis and Reflects Disease Severity

Sodium can accumulate in the skin at concentrations exceeding serum levels. A high sodium environment can lead to pathogenic T helper 17 cell expansion. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease in which IL-17. producing T helper 17 cells play a crucial role. In an observational study, we measured skin sodium content in patients with psoriasis and in age-matched healthy controls by Sodium-23 magnetic resonance imaging. Abstract Drawing on dual-process theories, this paper explains how the systematic and heuristic information processing of online reviews with conflicting information can influence consumers' purchase decision making. The study adopts major assumptions of complexity and configuration theory in employing fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis on 680 TripAdvisor users to test the complex interrelationships between emotions and the systematic and heuristic cues used in processing reviews. Abstract The aim of the present study was to analyze the relationship between students' (100 children aged 8 to 12) help-seeking behavior and impulsivity. Help-seeking behavior was evaluated using a naturalistic experimental paradigm in which children were placed in a problem-solving situation and had the opportunity to seek help from the experimenter, if needed. The Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás point property

Abstract In this article, we study a version of the Bishop–Phelps–Bollobas property. We investigate a pair of Banach spaces ( X , Y ) such that every operator from X into Y is approximated by operators which attain their norm at the same point where the original operator almost attains its norm. In this case, we say that such a pair has the Bishop–Phelps–Bollobas point property (BPBpp). We characterize uniform smoothness in terms of BPBpp and we give some examples of pairs ( X , Y ) which have and fail this property. Some stability results are obtained about l 1 and l ∞ sums of Banach spaces and we also study this property for bilinear mappings.

In this paper we introduce two Bishop–Phelps–Bollobas type properties for bounded linear operators between two Banach spaces X and Y: property 1 and property 2. These properties are motivated by a Kim–Lee result which states, under our notation, that a Banach space X is uniformly convex if and only if the pair (X,K) satisfies property 2. Positive results of pairs of Banach spaces (X,Y) satisfying property 1 are given and concrete pairs of Banach spaces (X,Y) failing both properties are exhibited. A complete characterization of property 1 for the pairs (lp,lq) is also provided.

Mental health of medical students belonging to sexual minorities: A focus on help-seeking behavior in an Italian multicenter survey

The aim was to examine social, university, health-related differences among heterosexual and Sexual Minority Medical students (SM-Meds), and explore predictors of help-seeking behavior (i.e., current psychological support and hypothetical university counseling use). A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted in Italy (2018). Questionnaires included socio-demographic items and Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). Chi-squared tests and multivariable regressions adjusted for BDI-II score were performed (sample size = 2513). SM-Meds were 13.9%. SM-Meds with depressive symptoms were 40.5%. Introduction Individuals with substance use disorders can receive important abstinence-specific support in 12-step groups (TSGs). However, our understanding of key factors that influence TSG participation remains limited. This study used an extended version of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to enhance the understanding of TSG affiliation. Methods Data were retrieved from a controlled trial of a 12-step facilitation intervention conducted on an inpatient detoxification ward in Norway (N = 140). A Fully Synthetic Four-Component Antitumor Vaccine Consisting of a Mucin Glycopeptide Antigen Combined with Three Different T-Helper-Cell Epitopes

In a new concept of fully synthetic vaccines, the role of T-helper cells is emphasized. Here, a synthetic antitumor vaccine consisting of a diglycosylated tumor-associated MUC1 glycopeptide as the B-cell epitope was covalently cross-linked with three different T-helper-cell epitopes via squaric acid ligation of two linear (glyco)peptides. In mice this four-component vaccine administered without external immune-stimulating promoters elicit titers of MUC1-specific antibodies that were about eight times higher than those induced by a vaccine containing only one T-helper-cell epitope.
