Perceptual commensuration in decision tables

This paper calls attention to design features that could enhance the helpfulness of the decision table to decision makers trying to get a better intuitive grasp of the choices facing them. The experiments reported here show that the grey scale is more facilitative than the number scale for problem comprehension as measured by the identification of dominance and the identification of non-additivity, each of which requires a view of the decision problem that is sensitive to patterns across attributes. Additional design features that could enhance the decision makers’ grasp of the choices facing them are suggested for further research.

The role of emotions and conflicting online reviews on consumers' purchase intentions

Abstract Drawing on dual-process theories, this paper explains how the systematic and heuristic information processing of online reviews with conflicting information can influence consumers' purchase decision making. The study adopts major assumptions of complexity and configuration theory in employing fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis on 680 TripAdvisor users to test the complex interrelationships between emotions and the systematic and heuristic cues used in processing reviews. Mining Customer Requirement from Helpful Online Reviews

Today there are a huge quantity of online reviews available across different categories of products. The key question is how to select helpful online reviews and what can we learn from the abundant reviews. In this paper, we first conclude five categories of features to predict reviews' helpfulness from the perspective of a product designer and then present an approach based on conjoint analysis to measure customer requirement. The suggested approach are demonstrated using product data from a popular Chinese mobile phone market.

Effects of a fatiguing run in popliteal vein flow using sports compression socks

Introduction Although the use of sports compression socks is becoming more popular, there is still a lack of knowledge regarding the helpfulness of these garments for physical movement or sports use. One of the main effects attributed to the use of compression sock is the facilitation of venous blood flow return which is thought to improve performance and recovery. Methodology In this study, 10 trained runners performed 2 treadmill running tests for 30 min to 75% of their maximum aerobic speed, without sports socks (control) and with different sports compression socks.
