Complications in dental implant surgery are possible. Bleeding complications have been described that may be serious, particularly in the floor of the mouth. We present two cases of sublingual hematomas during dental implant osteotomies that impeded but did not close the airway. The clinical courses of these patient's complications are reviewed. One patient had immediate hematoma formation while the other developed a hematoma overnight, presenting the next day. The treatment rendered was a precautionary in-hospital tracheotomy for the first patient and only compression control for the second. Background: The treatment of spontaneous spinal epidural hematomas (SSEHs), depending on the lesion size and myeloradicular involvement, can be surgical or conservative. A case of splenic rupture: A rare event after laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Background Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is generally safe and well-accepted. In rare cases, it is associated with complications (intra- e postoperative bleeding, visceral injury and surgical site infection). Splenic lesion has been reported only after direct trauma. We report an unusual case of splenic rupture presenting after “uncomplicated” LC. An acute aortic syndrome with simultaneous presence of a penetrating aortic ulcer, an intramural haematoma, a thoracic aortic dissection and an abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture has not previously been reported. Herein, we describe our experience with a patient treated by endovascular means with an 8-year follow-up.

Abstract Background We describe, step by step, a modified, less invasive, diamond-shaped mini-craniotomy that optimizes dural opening and can be performed in elderly patients affected by acute subdural or intracerebral hematomas, in therapy with antiplatelets or anticoagulants. Secondary haemorrhage is an important cause of brain injury following initial therapy of subdural haematoma (SDH). Early identification and treatment of secondary haemorrhage improves neurologic outcome. Near infrared light at a wavelength of 760 nm shows a high absorption for haemoglobin. The difference in absorbance of light ((Delta) OD) at the wavelength of 760 nm between both hemispheres is measured to detect SDH. Neuraxial techniques are considered safe if certain guidelines are followed, but they are not risk free. We report the case of an 81-year-old woman with an invasive bladder tumor who underwent radical cystectomy with a Bricker-type procedure. General anesthesia was used and epidural analgesia was also provided for surgical and postoperative pain management. Late in the postoperative recovery period a large epidural hematoma was diagnosed based on radiologic signs of spinal cord compression, in the absence of symptoms other than mild and progressive back pain that developed after extubation.
