Children as social actors negotiating their privacy in the digital commercial context

This study advances research on children’s negotiation of online commercial privacy by identifying an act of digital agency by children that may serve their current needs but can also impact children negatively. Secondly, it identifies certain factors children consider while evaluating the trustworthiness of apps and websites before disclosing information online. Eight focus group discussions with children (13–16 years) in Finland’s capital region are analysed using thematic analysis. The aim of this article is to introduce Neuvola, a childrearing support service in Finland, and to discuss issues related to Japanʼs User Support Project for Children and Childcare Support System. The authors visited and sat in on Neuvola sessions for three clients, and they conducted interviews with a client between October 4 and 8, 2015. Clients and Neuvola nurses were relaxed, and clients initiated the topics discussed during the visit. There was rapport between clients and Neuvola nurses, and clients seemed to be at ease in receiving the service. Tämän tutkielman aiheena oli tarkastella naishahmojen representaatioita sarjakuvajätti Marvelin televisiosarjassa Jessica Jones. Tarkoituksena oli tutkia, kuinka naishahmot esitetään dialogin, ulkonäön ja käyttäytymisen keinoin, sekä hahmojen fyysisten ja juonellisten kontekstien kautta. Tarkastelun kohteena olivat sarjan neljä keskeisintä naishahmoa, ja aineistona käytettiin sarjan ensimmäistä kautta, johon kuului yhteensä 13 jaksoa. Analysoin tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassani, muuttuvatko henkilöhahmot ja mitä niille tapahtuu Mika Waltarin Komisario Palmun erehdyksen (1940) elokuva-adaptaatiossa Matti Kassilan samannimiseksi elokuvaksi (1960). Hypoteesinani on, että ainakin päähenkilöt tulevat muuttumaan tämän prosessin aikana. HR scenario game : Learning human resource management in a virtual environment

This paper introduces a computer-based online scenario game that was developed to enhance the learning of human resource management (HRM) in an undergraduate course at a business school in Finland. What makes this game unique is that students played an important and active role in developing the game in collaboration with lecturers. Our findings show that the game enhances learning, interaction, and collaboration among students. We discuss how computer-based games and their development in collaboration with students can be used as a means for learning and improving working-life skills in higher education.
