How does university teachers’ pedagogical training meet topical challenges raised by educational research? A case study from Finland

Through a literature review, this study identified research themes related to university pedagogy and examined how these themes appear in the curricula of university pedagogy courses and in the experiences of the participants and trainers of these courses at a Finnish research university. The literature review produced a multidimensional model of the relationships between identified themes, which can be used as an analytical tool for examining pedagogical training. Analysis of the courses revealed a need to broaden the understanding of the course contents and practices and their alignment to global, societal, and labour-market needs. peerReviewed

Abstract This study deals with the comparison of impurity behaviour in pellet and gas fuelled JET-ITER like wall pulses with the aim of finding the mechanisms leading to the generally observed higher concentration of tungsten in pellet fuelled plasmas. In the search of new strategies to fight against obesity, we targeted a gene pathway involved in energy uptake. We have thus investigated the APOB mRNA editing protein (APOBEC1) gene pathway that is involved in fat absorption in the intestine. The APOB gene encodes two proteins, APOB100 and APOB48, via the editing of a single nucleotide in the APOB mRNA by the APOBEC1 enzyme. The APOB48 protein is mandatory for the synthesis of chylomicrons by intestinal cells to transport dietary lipids and cholesterol. Aptekari (pharmacists) act as responsible pharmacists, pharmacy owners, and managers. They follow a five year Masters of Science in Pharmacy (M.Sc. Pharm.) degree course with a six month traineeship.
