How do parents help? : Parental involvement in children s learning of German as an A2-language
2010
Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli saada selville kuinka kuudesluokkalaisten saksanopiskelijoiden vanhemmat auttavat lapsiaan saksan kotitehtävien teossa ja kokeisiin lukemisessa. Tutkimuksessa pohdittiin, kenen aloitteesta lapsia autetaan, mitä mieltä lapset ovat vanhempiensa avusta ja mistä syistä vanhemmat mahdollisesti eivät auta lapsiaan. Vanhempien lastensa koulunkäyntiin osallistumisen positiiviset vaikutukset on jo todistettu monessa tieteellisessä tutkimuksessa, mutta vanhempien osallistumista A-saksan lukijoiden opiskeluun ei juuri ole tutkittu. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin myös selvittämään voisiko vanhempien aktiivisuus/epäaktiivisuus vaikuttaa siihen, että saksaa opiskelevien koulu…

The lived experience of rescuing people who have driven into floodwater: Understanding challenges and identifying areas for providing support.
2018
Background: Drowning is a major public health issue, with risk increasing during times of flood. Driving into floodwater is a major risk factor for flood-related drowning and injury, and despite widespread public health campaigns, many people continue to undertake this risky behaviour and require rescue. Purpose: We aimed to identify key challenges faced by emergency services personnel when rescuing those who have driven into floodwater, and to identify strategies for supporting rescuers in this important role. Methods: Australian flood rescue operators (N = 8) who had previously rescued a driver who had driven into floodwater participated in semi-structured interviews. Data were analysed u…
Application of the Chinese Version of the BIS/BAS Scales in Participants With a Substance Use Disorder: An Analysis of Psychometric Properties and Co…
2020
Carver and White developed the Behavioral Inhibition/Behavioral Activation Scales (the BIS/BAS Scales) based on Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory proposed by Gray. Subsequent studies proposed that substance abuse was closely related to Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS) and Behavioral Activation System (BAS). However, researches on the psychometric properties of the BIS/BAS scales in clinical samples are scarce. The present study was conducted to analyze the applicability of the BIS/BAS scales in a sample suffering from a substance use disorder (SUD) and undergoing treatment in compulsory detoxification institutions (n = 1117). Meanwhile, 822 community residents were selected for comparison.…

To promote self-awareness of young people’s agency and identify persons in need of support the Assessment Tool for Perceived Agency (ATPA-22) was developed. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the ATPA-22. Participants were young adults not in education, employment or training (NEETs) and students in higher education (HEI). Materials and methods: The main data analysis was implemented by Many Faceted Rasch (MFR) analysis. Results: The ATPA-22 items defined a unidimensional construct with reasonable internal consistency and separation ability. The ATPA-22 was capabl…
Using a phone-based learning tool as an instructional resource for initial literacy learning in rural African families
2020
Background: Despite increased enrolments at primary schools in Zambia, more than half of the children in Grades 1–4 are unable to meet the required minimum standards for literacy. Psychometric Properties of the Personal and General Belief in a Just World Scales in the Argentine Context
2018
Paths from socioemotional behavior in middle childhood to personality in middle adulthood.
2012
Continuity in individual differences from socioemotional behavior in middle childhood to personality characteristics in middle adulthood was examined on the assumption that they share certain temperament-related elements. Socioemotional characteristics were measured using teacher ratings at ages 8 (N = 369; 53% males) and 14 (95% of the initial sample). Personality was assessed at age 42 (63% of the initial sample; 50% males) using a shortened version of the NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI); the Karolinska Scales of Personality (KSP); and the Adult Temperament Questionnaire (ATQ). Three models were tested using structural equation modeling. The results confirmed paths (a) from behavioral …
O powinnościach żołnierskich w warunkach niewoli niemieckiej podczas II wojny światowej
2016
W czasie II wojny światowej w niemieckiej niewoli przetrzymywanych było około 20 tys. polskich oficerów. Więzieni byli w pierwszych latach niewoli w kilkunastu, a od końca 1942 r. czterech oflagach: II C Woldenberg (Dobiegniew), VIIA Murnau, II D Gross Born (Borne Sulinowo), VI B Dóssel. Swoje powinności oficerskie względem Ojczyzny i Wojska Polskiego realizowali w warunkach niewoli p…
