𝔸1-contractibility of affine modifications
2019
We introduce Koras–Russell fiber bundles over algebraically closed fields of characteristic zero. After a single suspension, this exhibits an infinite family of smooth affine [Formula: see text]-contractible [Formula: see text]-folds. Moreover, we give examples of stably [Formula: see text]-contractible smooth affine [Formula: see text]-folds containing a Brieskorn–Pham surface, and a family of smooth affine [Formula: see text]-folds with a higher-dimensional [Formula: see text]-contractible total space.
The Period Isomorphism
2017
The aim of this section is to define well-behaved isomorphisms between singular and de Rham cohomology of algebraic varieties.
FREDHOLM THEORY FOR DEGENERATE PSEUDODIFFERENTIAL OPERATORS ON MANIFOLDS WITH FIBERED BOUNDARIES
2001
We consider the calculus Ψ*,* de(X, deΩ½) of double-edge pseudodifferential operators naturally associated to a compact manifold X whose boundary is the total space of a fibration. This fits into the setting of boundary fibration structures, and we discuss the corresponding geometric objects. We construct a scale of weighted double-edge Sobolev spaces on which double-edge pseudodifferential operators act as bounded operators, characterize the Fredholm elements in Ψ*,* de(X) by means of the invertibility of an appropriate symbol map, and describe a K-theoretical formula for the Fredholm index extending the Atiyah–Singer formula for closed manifolds. The algebra of operators of order (0, 0) i…
The snail lemma for internal groupoids
2019
Abstract We establish a generalized form both of the Gabriel-Zisman exact sequence associated with a pointed functor between pointed groupoids, and of the Brown exact sequence associated with a fibration of pointed groupoids. Our generalization consists in replacing pointed groupoids with groupoids internal to a pointed regular category with reflexive coequalizers.
On the numerical evaluation of algebro-geometric solutions to integrable equations
2011
Physically meaningful periodic solutions to certain integrable partial differential equations are given in terms of multi-dimensional theta functions associated to real Riemann surfaces. Typical analytical problems in the numerical evaluation of these solutions are studied. In the case of hyperelliptic surfaces efficient algorithms exist even for almost degenerate surfaces. This allows the numerical study of solitonic limits. For general real Riemann surfaces, the choice of a homology basis adapted to the anti-holomorphic involution is important for a convenient formulation of the solutions and smoothness conditions. Since existing algorithms for algebraic curves produce a homology basis no…
Fibred-categorical obstruction theory
2022
Abstract We set up a fibred categorical theory of obstruction and classification of morphisms that specialises to the one of monoidal functors between categorical groups and also to the Schreier-Mac Lane theory of group extensions. Further applications are provided to crossed extensions and crossed bimodule butterflies, with in particular a classification of non-abelian extensions of unital associative algebras in terms of Hochschild cohomology.
The first Chevalley–Eilenberg Cohomology group of the Lie algebra on the transverse bundle of a decreasing family of foliations
2010
Abstract In [L. Lebtahi, Lie algebra on the transverse bundle of a decreasing family of foliations, J. Geom. Phys. 60 (2010), 122–133], we defined the transverse bundle V k to a decreasing family of k foliations F i on a manifold M . We have shown that there exists a ( 1 , 1 ) tensor J of V k such that J k ≠0 , J k + 1 = 0 and we defined by L J ( V k ) the Lie Algebra of vector fields X on V k such that, for each vector field Y on V k , [ X , J Y ] = J [ X , Y ] . In this note, we study the first Chevalley–Eilenberg Cohomology Group, i.e. the quotient space of derivations of L J ( V k ) by the subspace of inner derivations, denoted by H 1 ( L J ( V k ) ) .
Some considerations on the nonabelian tensor square of crystallographic groups
2011
The nonabelian tensor square $G\otimes G$ of a polycyclic group $G$ is a polycyclic group and its structure arouses interest in many contexts. The same assertion is still true for wider classes of solvable groups. This motivated us to work on two levels in the present paper: on a hand, we investigate the growth of the Hirsch length of $G\otimes G$ by looking at that of $G$, on another hand, we study the nonabelian tensor product of pro--$p$--groups of finite coclass, which are a remarkable class of solvable groups without center, and then we do considerations on their Hirsch length. Among other results, restrictions on the Schur multiplier will be discussed.
Torsors for Difference Algebraic Groups
2016
We introduce a cohomology set for groups defined by algebraic difference equations and show that it classifies torsors under the group action. This allows us to compute all torsors for large classes of groups. We also develop some tools for difference algebraic geometry and present an application to the Galois theory of differential equations depending on a discrete parameter.
A criterion for homeomorphism between closed Haken manifolds
2003
In this paper we consider two connected closed Haken manifolds denoted by M^3 and N^3, with the same Gromov simplicial volume. We give a simple homological criterion to decide when a given map f: M^3-->N^3 between M^3 and N^3 can be changed by a homotopy to a homeomorphism. We then give a convenient process for constructing maps between M^3 and N^3 satisfying the homological hypothesis of the map f.
