Korn inequality on irregular domains
2013
Abstract In this paper, we study the weighted Korn inequality on some irregular domains, e.g., s-John domains and domains satisfying quasihyperbolic boundary conditions. Examples regarding sharpness of the Korn inequality on these domains are presented. Moreover, we show that Korn inequalities imply certain Poincare inequality.
On Barbilian spaces in projective lattice geometries
1992
We introduce the notion of a Barbilian space of a projective lattice geometry in order to investigate the relationship between lattice-geometric properties and the properties of point-hyperplane structures associated with. We obtain a characterization of those projective lattice geometries, the Barbilian space of which is a Veldkamp space.
The horospherical Gauss-Bonnet type theorem in hyperbolic space
2006
We introduce the notion horospherical curvatures of hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space and show that totally umbilic hypersurfaces with vanishing cur- vatures are only horospheres. We also show that the Gauss-Bonnet type theorem holds for the horospherical Gauss-Kronecker curvature of a closed orientable even dimensional hypersurface in hyperbolic space. + (i1) by using the model in Minkowski space. We introduced the notion of hyperbolic Gauss indicatrices slightly modified the definition of hyperbolic Gauss maps. The notion of hyperbolic indicatrices is independent of the choice of the model of hyperbolic space. Using the hyperbolic Gauss indicatrix, we defined the principal hyperbolic curv…
Periodic measures and partially hyperbolic homoclinic classes
2019
In this paper, we give a precise meaning to the following fact, and we prove it: $C^1$-open and densely, all the non-hyperbolic ergodic measures generated by a robust cycle are approximated by periodic measures. We apply our technique to the global setting of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with one dimensional center. When both strong stable and unstable foliations are minimal, we get that the closure of the set of ergodic measures is the union of two convex sets corresponding to the two possible $s$-indices; these two convex sets intersect along the closure of the set of non-hyperbolic ergodic measures. That is the case for robustly transitive perturbation of the time one map of a tr…
Linearization of complex hyperbolic Dulac germs
2021
We prove that a hyperbolic Dulac germ with complex coefficients in its expansion is linearizable on a standard quadratic domain and that the linearizing coordinate is again a complex Dulac germ. The proof uses results about normal forms of hyperbolic transseries from another work of the authors.
Hyperbolicity as an obstruction to smoothability for one-dimensional actions
2017
Ghys and Sergiescu proved in the $80$s that Thompson's group $T$, and hence $F$, admits actions by $C^{\infty}$ diffeomorphisms of the circle . They proved that the standard actions of these groups are topologically conjugate to a group of $C^\infty$ diffeomorphisms. Monod defined a family of groups of piecewise projective homeomorphisms, and Lodha-Moore defined finitely presentable groups of piecewise projective homeomorphisms. These groups are of particular interest because they are nonamenable and contain no free subgroup. In contrast to the result of Ghys-Sergiescu, we prove that the groups of Monod and Lodha-Moore are not topologically conjugate to a group of $C^1$ diffeomorphisms. Fur…

On the Cauchy problem for microlocally symmetrizable hyperbolic systems with log-Lipschitz coefficients
2017
International audience; The present paper concerns the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for microlocally symmetrizable hyperbolic systems whose coefficients and symmetrizer are log-Lipschitz continuous, uniformly in time and space variables. For the global in space problem we establish energy estimates with finite loss of derivatives, which is linearly increasing in time. This implies well-posedness in H ∞ , if the coefficients enjoy enough smoothness in x. From this result, by standard arguments (i.e. extension and convexification) we deduce also local existence and uniqueness. A huge part of the analysis is devoted to give an appropriate sense to the Cauchy problem, which is not evide…
On the representation of integers by indefinite binary Hermitian forms
2011
Given an integral indefinite binary Hermitian form f over an imaginary quadratic number field, we give a precise asymptotic equivalent to the number of nonequivalent representations, satisfying some congruence properties, of the rational integers with absolute value at most s by f, as s tends to infinity.
Attraction d'ondes pour des systèmes à résonance d'ondes contra-propagatives
2011
Wave attraction in counter-propagating waves systems is a general phenomenon that was first established in Physics in the context of the attraction of the polarization between two counter-propagating waves in optical fibers. This phenomenon has been observed experimentally, and its properties were studied through numerical simulations. The models are Hamiltonian hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations, with time-dependent boundary conditions on a finite interval. The underlying mechanism can be traced back to the existence of singular tori in the corresponding stationary equations. In this work we analyze in detail the simplest example in this family of models. We show that mos…
