This chapter considers Bernardi’s contribution to two different processes of traditional institutions revival in East Africa. He was the main ethnographer of the Mugwe, a traditional dignitary of the Meru of Kenya, that ceased to exist soon after his field work. He used the attribution ‘failing prophet’ in the title of the first edition of his book, changed into ‘blessing prophet’ in the following edition, having in the meanwhile registered a growing symbolic consideration for the institution. The essay summarizes a field research work started in 1998 in Calamonaci (AG). Through the discovery of the diversity and alterity of the endotic, between the known and the familiar, continuously discovered and enriched, the author develops a careful analysis of family images that become the premise and purpose of the research. This field research involved about 300 families and then became a photographic exhibition, with a catalog, experienced, shared and participated by the community. The folkloric traditions related to Saint Lucia of Syracuse are characterized, in Sicily as well as elsewhere in Italy, by a peculiar mythical-ritual symbolism. The eyes, fire, wheat are the main elements. The Saint is invoked to solve the problems of sight and all ophthalmic pathologies (both in a cult context and in a magical-medical one) and as such she is the recipient of ex voto objects and the protagonist of prayers and spells. Standardizzazione di tre nuovi test di memoria di riconoscimento verbale e non verbale: uno studio preliminare.

Il lavoro presenta la costruzione e standardizzazione di una nuova batteria di test neuropsicologici per la valutazione della memoria di riconoscimento verbale e non verbale. La batteria è composta da tre subtest: parole, volti non familiari ed edifici sconosciuti. I test sono stati standardizzati su un campione italiano di 308 soggetti normali di entrambi i sessi, di età compresa tra 20 e 80 anni e scolarità da 5 a 19 anni. I punteggi ai tre test risultano normalmente distribuiti. Le tre prove risultano di difficoltà uguale e graduata e sono confrontabili tra loro. La batteria consente di differenziare sia deficit globali che selettivi.
