El retablo de San Estanislao de Kostka en San Luis de los franceses de Sevilla

El templo de San Luis de los franceses de Sevilla, construido a lo largo de las primeras décadas del siglo XVIII, dispone de un complejo programa visual. El retablo de San Estanislao de Kostka ocupa una importante capilla, en paralelo a la de San Francisco de Borja. Como todo retablo, cumple dos funciones: la contemplativa, o conductora de la oración a través de su imagen conceptual, y la formativa por medio del discurso visual desplegado en las calles laterales y el ático. Se afronta el análisis de ambas facetas mediante una aproximación a sus fuentes literarias y emblemáticas.

En este artículo pretendemos analizar el sentido simbólico y ritual que pudo existir detrás de las cimeras que imitaban animales, como el lobo, y que embellecían los cascos de los guerreros en la Antigüedad. The paper aims at underlining the relationships between the iconography of terracotta figurines and the ritual practices. As case study the pinakes depicting a group of standing/playing and dancing maidens are treated, and the whole "votive system" to which they belong is analyzed.

This article explores the development of the theme of the Life-giving Spring in Byzantine iconography. The path towards its establishment was initiated at the moment when a representation rule, an original convention was set. Thereafter, because of its diffusion in time and space, the theme became enriched by particular mentalities and sensibilities of the epochs and the communities that adopted it as a form of devotion for the Virgin Theotokos. In France, when we speak about the animal associated to celtic people, everybody thinks and mentions wildboar. This topic meanly emerged from XIXe historiography, but Archaeozoology shows that this animal is very rare in every kinds of sites (settelments, shrines or cemeteries). In other hand, the excavations of these sites give a great amount of pig bones, this animal is in fact one of the more important in celtic husbandry and meat production. The aim of this paper is to illustrate the difference between historiographic and archaeological evidences.
