La diabetes constituye un importante factor de riesgo de la enfermedad cardiovascular, con una mayor prevalencia de ictus y nefropatía. El péptido natriurético tipo B (BNP) juega un papel importante en la fisiopatología cardiovascular y podría tener acciones protectoras cardiovasculares y nefrovasculares en pacientes diabéticos. First findings of Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus (Skuse, 1894) in the province of Valencia, Spain Framed within the project "Entomological surveillance at airports and ports against vectors of imported infectious diseases, and sur- veillance of potential native vectors of these diseases", on Septem- ber 2011 Aedes albopictus (Diptera, Culicidae) is reported for the first time in the province of Valencia in the coastal municipalities of Sueca, Cullera and Gandia, using oviposition traps.

Analysis of diet in Discoglossus pictus (Otth, 1837) from Sicily (Anura: Alytidae). The Painted frog (Discoglossus pictus Otth, 1837) (Alytidae) is a monotypic species distributed in North Africa, Sicily and Malta. Many studies have been made in the past about morphological and genetical aspects, but as regards the diet very little can be found in bibliography. This study shows data of a sample of individuals from a breeding site of western Sicily. Samplings were taken from November 2009 to June 2010, during the night. The Reunion Island faced a great epidemic of chikungunya in 2005-2006. Chikungunya is a vector-borne disease transmitted by a mosquito. It is in the town of St Pierre, in the south of the island, that the first cases of chikungunya appeared in 2005. We chose to work on one area of the Ravine des Cabris, in the town of Saint-Pierre in the south of the Reunion Island, where individual housing outweighs the block of flats, where houses are surrounded by gardens – closed in for most of them, well watered- and where the foliage is important: we are in a green urban area which is a place of high prevalence.
