The aim of this paper is to answer why collective memory should be taken into account in the linguistic discursive analysis of the Silesian collective identity construction, presented in the periodical entitled "Schlesische Provinzialblätter". Starting with the historical background of the periodical and making references to cultural and sociological studies related to collective identity, the author attemptes to identify the role played by collective memory in identity-building discourses and presents methodological propositions for a linguistic depiction of this phenomenon.

In this study I try to understand four prospective adult class teachers’ identity works on the basis of their learning diaries during a mathematics education course (6 ECTS). These four prospective class teachers’ reported they had negative experiences of mathematics during their school years but later in their lives the views towards mathematics had changed to a positive direction. Niniejszy tekst stanowi refleksję nad wpływem matki na życie i twórczość Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette oraz jest próbą wskazania roli, jaką ich więź odgrywała w kształtowaniu się osobowości pisarki. Poprzez analizę fragmentów Sido, Domu Klaudyny i Narodzin dnia, a także prac kilkorga badaczy literatury, prześledzono etapy relacji, jaka łączyła Colette z matką oraz możliwie najwierniej przywołano literacki portret Sido. Próbowano dowieść, iż odwoływanie się do postaci matki miało w twórczości artystki kilka faz oraz było sposobem poszukiwania przez Colette własnej tożsamości.

Abstract Phonetic resources, like dialects and accents, are used in ethnic humour to build up a recognisable character that pokes fun at the stereotypes associated with a particular identity, sometimes with critical and political undertones. In this article, we examine the manipulation of one such resource, aspiration, used in performing and mocking one such clichéd character, called the fake Sámi. This character has a contested history in Finnish tourism and marketing practices, and is embedded in a long-standing debate about who can use emblems of Sámi identity for economic purposes.
