"The best thing is laughing at our differences" : intercultural couples' views on their relationship and its effects on the construction of identities

2016

Avioli…

Understanding Language Teacher Identities : Conceptualizations, practices and change

2019

This chapter presents some new approaches and questions in language teacher identity research that could facilitate a better understanding of the work of language teachers, and as a consequence help teacher educators to support them in that work. Language teacher research has shown that periods of change play an important role in identity development. In the field of general teacher research, several studies have addressed the significance of transition phases and changes in curriculum for teacher identities and beliefs. However, there has been some research on the significance of teacher education and transition to full-time teaching for language teacher identity development. A more partic…

2016

The human has few types of sex - somatic, psychological and social, genetic, gonadal, genital, and hormonal. Individual elements of human sexuality interact by strengthening, confirming or denying one another. Moreover, they form a "mosaic" which means every person is a little different. This article presents the process of shaping of sex identity in the prenatal period, taking into account factors that affect it. It also underlines the importance of the functioning of the reproductive period of psycho-sexual health of subsequent generations. The author hopes it will also provide a reason for deep reflection on how largely existential, ethical and moral issues transpire. Contemplation will …

Acting Agentically at Work: Developing a Short Measure of Professional Agency

2021

Although professional agency has become an increasingly crucial issue in work organizations, investigators lack a brief instrument to measure it. This paper introduces a short measure to explore professional agency at work. Our aim was to shorten the original 17-item Professional Agency Measure, while also exploring its usability for cross-validating questionnaire datasets, and investigating the relationship between professional agency and work engagement. Three dimensions of professional agency emerged, with three items per dimension, across the domains of healthcare, real estate services, and information technology (all within Finland). All the dimensions (Influencing at work, Participati…

2020

Existence of positive solutions for nonlinear Dirichlet problems with gradient dependence and arbitrary growth

2018

We consider a nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the Dirichlet $p$-Laplacian and a reaction term which depends also on the gradient (convection). No growth condition is imposed on the reaction term $f(z, \cdot,y)$. Using topological tools and the asymptotic analysis of a family of perturbed problems, we prove the existence of a positive smooth solution.
