Exploring the role of music therapy in attachment, identity & creativity : a case study

2016

Music therapy has been implemented within healthcare to treat individual’s suffering from various forms of illness today. Music and the creative process are a fundamental component human life, bringing order to inner chaos and understanding to our human experience. However the intricacies of the creative process within clinical music therapy leaves many question unanswered and its tangible effects often remain illusive to those outside of the therapeutic process. This case aims to illustrate the unique music therapy process of Mary, a young woman suffering from emotional, identity and attachment problems. This case also seeks to document and explore how the therapeutic relationship and the …

"Dis poem shall call names names": Naming in reggae culture, the example of dub poetry

2013

International audience; The question of names and naming emerged as a crucial concern in the cultures of the African diaspora as a way to resist the anonymity and loss of identity imposed upon slaves. Through examples taken from reggae culture and the subgenre known as dub poetry, this paper looks at how names imply a political and poetic use of language in black Atlantic cultures.

The effects of populism as a social identity frame on persuasion and mobilization: evidence from a 15-country experiment

2020

This article investigates the impact of populist messages on issue agreement and readiness for action in 15 countries (N = 7,286). Specifically, populist communicators rely on persuasive strategies by which social group cues become more salient and affect people's judgment of and political engagement with political issues. This strategy is called ‘populist identity framing’ because the ordinary people as the in‐group is portrayed as being threatened by various out‐groups. By blaming political elites for societal or economic problems harming ordinary people, populist communicators engage in anti‐elitist identity framing. Another strategy is to blame immigrants for social problems – that is, …

Experiences in Sense Making: Health Science Students’I-Positioning in an Online Philosophy of Science Course

2014

This article reports on a qualitative study on the dialogical approach to learning in the context of higher education. The aim was to shed light on the I-Position and multivoicedness in students’ identity building and to provide empirical substantiation for these theoretical constructs, focusing especially on the connection between personal knowledge and theoretical knowledge. The study explored how health science students’ reflections on their work and discipline-related experiences provided resources for making personal sense of and understanding the subject studied. The students took an online course on the philosophy of science. To study students’ internal and external dialogue in terms…

Dis-Identity: New Forms of Identity and Psychopathology—Socioanthropological Changes and Self-Development

2014

The passage from modernity to postmodernity deeply upset the group dimension, and, consequently, personal identity itself. Transformations involving the entire planet, socioanthropological changes our society had to cope with, are producing a change in the dynamics of identity formation and the appearance of new psychopathological figures. The loss of cohesion of the sense of belonging and the weak internalization process of the elements that form the individual identity (cultural, linguistic, religious traditions, etc.) draw an essentially uncertain and temporary existence. Drawing on some themes of subjectual group analysis theory of personality, the article proposes the concept of dis-id…

Evolutionity – A New Age of Humanity: On the Concept of Human Evolution by Hoene-Wroński

2018

In this article, I present the concept of human evolution by Jozef Hoene-Wronski. I believe that his ideas are still an unexplored resource which can lead us to the better understanding of the evolution of humanity and of our human destiny. Hoene-Wronski has boldly challenged the deterministic picture of the world emerging from modern science and has derived human evolution from the moral and rational development of human beings. I follow closely his discussion of human evolution and describe its seven stages. Further, I argue that the case of human evolution is strongly supported by new scientific theories, especially by quantum theory and the novel perspectives that it opens for humankind…

IGUALDADE DE GÊNERO E ANÁLISE DA COMUNICAÇÃO MOTORA NAS TAREFAS DE EDUCAÇÃO FÍSICA

2019

Scattering Amplitudes from Superconformal Ward Identities

2018

We consider finite superamplitudes of N=1 matter, and use superconformal symmetry to derive powerful first-order differential equations for them. Because of on-shell collinear singularities, the Ward identities have an anomaly, which is obtained from lower-loop information. We show that in the five-particle case, the solution to the equations is uniquely fixed by the expected analytic behavior. We apply the method to a nonplanar two-loop five-particle integral. We consider finite superamplitudes of N=1 matter, and use superconformal symmetry to derive powerful first-order differential equations for them. Due to on-shell collinear singularities, the Ward identities have an anomaly, which is …

Untangling CP violation and the mass hierarchy in long baseline experiments

2004

In the overlap region, for the normal and inverted hierarchies, of the neutrino-antineutrino bi-probability space for $\nu_\mu \to \nu_e$ appearance, we derive a simple identity between the solutions in the ($\sin^2 2\theta_{13}$, $\sin \delta$) plane for the different hierarchies. The parameter $\sin^2 2\theta_{13}$ sets the scale of the $\nu_\mu \to \nu_e$ appearance probabilities at the atmospheric $\delta m^2_{atm} \approx 2.4 \times 10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ whereas $\sin \delta $ controls the amount of CP violation in the lepton sector. The identity between the solutions is that the difference in the values of $\sin \delta$ for the two hierarchies equals twice the value of $\sqrt{\sin^2 2\theta…

CKM matrix and fermion masses in the dualized standard model

1997

A Dualized Standard Model recently proposed affords a natural explanation for the existence of Higgs fields and of exactly 3 generations of fermions, while giving at the same time the observed fermion mass hierarchy together with a tree-level CKM matrix equal to the identity matrix. It further suggests a method for generating from loop corrections the lower generation masses and nondiagonal CKM matrix elements. In this paper, the proposed calculation is carried out to 1-loop. It is found first that with the method suggested one can account readily for the masses of the second generation fermions as a `leakage' from the highest generation. Then, with the Yukawa couplings fixed by fitting the…
