Er det en sammenheng mellom en kraft-hastighetsprofil målt i lab og en kraft-hastighetsprofil målt med GPS på fotballbanen?

2021

Unsteady physiology and perception during long “steady state” runs. What role do training characteristics play?

2021

Master's thesis in Sports science (ME517) PURPOSE: To contribute to a better understanding of low-intensity (<LT1) endurance training by quantifying and explaining the physiological mechanisms associated with cardiac drift and fatigue during low-intensity running and relate them to training characteristics. […] RESULTS: There was a significant drift for heart rate, oxygen consumption, ventilation, RER and RPE during both runs (P<0.05). There was no difference in drift between groups for any measurements, except for running economy during LR100. The drift was similar during LR90 and LR100 for all measurements except RER, which was significantly greater during LR90 (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The p…

Nevromuskulær trening i jentefotballen

2021

Master's thesis in Sports science (ME517) Background: It ́s claimed that physical activity and motor competence are essential components of an active lifestyle and performance in multicomponent sports such as soccer. As a functional and holistic training method, neuromuscular training may promote health-and performance related components in kids’ sports. Aim: The aim was to investigate the effects of nine weeks neuromuscular training on gross-and sports specific motor competence, strength and change of direction in girls. […] Conclusion: The neuromuscular trainings program used in this study did not show an effect on gross-and sports specific motor competence, strength or change of directio…

New metrics for analysis and presentation of device-based indices of physical activity : Exploration of a novel way of reducing accelerometer data in…

2021

Master's thesis in Sports science (ME517) Background: Device-based measurements of human behavior are becoming the standard tool to collect precise, valid, and free-living indices of habitual physical activity. However, differences between brands and lack of consensus regarding data reduction strategies, hampers between and within study comparisons. New metrics such as the analytical (average acceleration and intensity gradient) and translational metrics (MX) proposed by Rowlands et al. (2019a) might overcome some of these limitations. Currently the new metrics have not been applied to large representative data sets and comparisons of measurement properties between traditional and new accel…

Relativ alderseffekt i norsk kretslagsfotball : Eksisterer det en relativ alderseffekt blant selekterte norske kretslagsspillere?

2017

Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap ME517 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of a relative age effect among selected youth players on a regional level in Norwegian soccer and to determine if players born in different quarters of the selectionyear, assess their soccer-related abilities differently. Previuos research has shown that players born early in the selectionyear, has been overrepresented in youth national teams in Europe (Helsen et al., 2005) and talentdevelopment-programs (Carling et al., 2009). A total number of 624 players took part in this study, from 16 out of 18 different regions in Norway and the players were considered the most…

Glede i idrett: En scoping review om idrettsglede i den organiserte barne- og ungdomsidretten

2021

Master's thesis in Sports science (ME517) Previous studies on enjoyment in sport have shown that the term leads to increased motivation and continued participation in organized sport. Research has also demonstrated that enjoyment in sport can be experienced from different sources. Based on these findings, the purpose of this study was to continue the research on the subject by conducting a summary of the existing literature. The research question that framed this study was to investigate what the literature has found about enjoyment in children's and youth sports in the timeframe 1980 to 2020. The study was conducted as a scoping review and followed the research method of Arksey and O'Malle…

Tvillinger i toppidrett – prestasjonsfremmende? : En kvalitativ analyse av tre tvillingpar i håndball på internasjonalt nivå

2017

Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap ME517 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The purpose of this thesis is to identify performance-enhancing factors amongst twins in elite sport. It is well documented that the familial context plays a role in sporting activity and development, but there is little research on how siblings and twins interact with achievement progress in sports. The informants were six Norwegian women, all twins, between 26 and 36 years of age, where everyone is or has been on a high international level in women's handball. Several of the performers are merited, with titles at both club and international level, through participation in the Champions League, European Championships, World …

Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap ME517 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The purpose of this study was to establish pre-competition anxiety, self-confidence and mental toughness among high level handball players before matches during the handball season. The development of pre-competition anxiety and self-confidence before the matches was compared between two different teams and compared between players scoring high and low on mental toughness. Pre-competition anxiety and self-confidence was measured using the questionnaire CSAI-2 and mental toughness was measured using the questionnaire SMTQ. The participants was 34 female handball-players, recruited from two teams playing in the Norwegian nation…

Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap ME517 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Background: Sleep is important for both recovery and performance during training. Previous studies about sleep and performance are usually excecuted within competition periods, and measured by one or two of the three instruments Sensewear, Philips or PSQI.Aim: The aim of this study is to compare the questionnaire PSQI and the activity measure Sensewear with the Philips' goal of sleep, to investigate whether young top athletes have the recommended amount of sleep and whether there is a link between sleep and performance.Method: A total of 17 young top athletes participated in this study. To register the amount of sleep the ins…
