Abstract The article examines the relation of tourism and idyll in regard to the mediation of the tourist experience. Digital detox tourism and off grid tourism are two examples of contemporary tourism – including their respective practices and ways of promotion – that associate certain cultural stereotypes with the idyll. While digital detox tourism promises independence from the digital world, off grid tourism detaches the tourist from infrastructure and supplies. Paradoxically, the advertising of these types of ‘disconnection’ makes use of the same linked infrastructures that tourists are bound to leave behind. This research focuses on perceptions of rurality in Finland. The chapter presents two different ways of delineating contemporary rural living: the approach of the Finnish Rural Policy Committee and the alternative approach arising from definitions given by the people living in rural Finland. The main aim is to study how the cultural meanings that rural residents attach to their home environments relate to the official vision of ‘Residential Rural Areas’ proposed by the Rural Policy Committee. Artykuł pt. Substrat jako fundament konwencjonalizacji wtórnej staropolskiej sielanki jest analizą najważniejszej zasady tworzącej konwencję tego gatunku, a mianowicie reguły dwupłaszczyznowości kompozycyjnej. Autorka na przykładach utworów takich poetów, jak: Szymon Szymonowicz, Szymon Zimorowicz, Jan Gawiński, Samuel Twardowski czy Adrian Wieszczycki omawia etap kształtowania się konwencji gatunku sielankowego. Następnie ukazuje zależność pomiędzy zmianami w warunkach literackich i kulturowych oraz tych, które zaszły w percepcji czytelników, a ich wpływem na ewolucję ustalonej konwencji.
