Abstract Cryoplasty may reduce the incidence of post-angioplasty restenosis in peripheral atherosclerotic arteries. Our study is looking to investigate the mid-term effects (4 weeks) of an FDA-approved cryoplasty catheter (PolarCath®, Boston Scientific) compared to a conventional angioplasty catheter using a hypercholesterolemic rabbit model of arterial restenosis based on diet plus vessel injury. The rat model is the principal rodent model used and this study aims to assess the potential for pregnancy and to assess effects on pregnancy outcome. METHODS: Female Lewis rats underwent hysterectomy and received syngeneic uterine transplants (with one horn removed) by end-to-side anastomosis between the common iliac vessels of the recipient and the graft. A wire-loop technique for implantation of an iliac branched device in a patient with previous surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm

We described a modified technique for implanting a bridging stent-graft into an iliac branched device. A 79-year-old male who had received aortobiiliac synthetic graft surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm six months earlier was admitted to our unit for treatment of a left common iliac aneurysm involving the origin of the hypogastric artery. A standard technique was unsuccessful at implanting the bridging stent-graft, and therefore a wire-loop guidewire over the graft bifurcation was used to stabilize the contralateral sheaths and to complete the implantation. © Turkish Society of Radiology 2012.

Background To evaluate the long-term results in a multicentric continuous series of narrowing lesions of the aortic bifurcation treated with a kissing stent. Methods From January, 1st 1999 to the December, 31st 2001, all of the patients ( n = 80) presenting with stenosis of the aortic bifurcation ( n = 15) and/or the 2 common iliac arteries ( n = 65), treated with a kissing stent, in 8 teaching hospitals were collected retrospectively. The risk factors were smoking (91%), dyslipidemia (60%), arterial hypertension (42%) and diabetes (27%). In 84% of cases, the indication for treatment was claudication. The aim of our study was to explore some potential pleiotropic effects of atorvastatin, after stenting in the iliac arteries of normocholesterolemic rabbits. On day 0, 27 rabbits underwent stent implantation and were randomized into either the control group (standard chow, CTRL, n = 15) or the atorvastatin group (10 mg/kg/d per os, Ator, n = 12). Simultaneous endovascular treatment of multiple peripheral aneurysms

A 69-year-old man with a history of hypertension and severe pulmonary disease had asymptomatic bilateral common iliac and popliteal artery aneurysms. A bifurcated Talent and two Wallgraft stent-grafts were deployed via open femoral arteriotomies to exclude the aneurysms, respectively. The patient had an uncomplicated recovery, with no transfusion need; the hospital stay was 4 days. After a 5-year follow-up, no complication or endoleak has been detected, with patency of endografts and a mean decrease of 15% in aneurysm transverse diameters.
