Detection of a Dissecting Aortic Aneurysm by Renal Transplant Imaging

After 2 years with a normal post-transplant course a 45-year-old man showed an elevated creatinine level (4.5 mg/dL). Transplantation had been neccessary because of progressive glomerulonephritis. Renal transplant imaging was obtained with 150 Mbq Tc-99m MAG3. The perfusion images showed radionuclide accumulation in the area of the upper abdominal aorta and delayed perfusion of the right iliac artery. Accumulation of Tc-99m MAG3 in the transplant was slow and no filling of the bladder could be observed. Immediately after imaging, the patient developed acute hemorrhagic shock. Initial Experience in the Treatment of Extensive Iliac Artery Aneurysms With the Nellix Aneurysm Sealing System.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the Nellix prosthesis in the treatment of common iliac artery aneurysms. Methods: Between May 2013 and June 2015, 230 patients underwent implantation of the Nellix device at 2 institutions. Fifty of these patients (mean age 76 years; 35 men) were identified as having 60 common iliac artery aneurysms (CIAAs) with a median diameter of 4 cm (range 3.5–7). The majority of patients had aortoiliac aneurysms (5, 70%), 10 (20%) had isolated CIAAs, and 5 (10%) had iliac anastomotic aneurysms after aortoiliac bypass. International audience; : We report the case of a 21-year-old man, with a Candida-related endocarditis causing multiple emboli and bilateral false aneurysms of the internal iliac arteries. As the distal runoff vasculatures of both internal iliac arteries were occluded, these arteries required ligation. Although there were few consequences with the procedure, multiple emboli and recurrence of endocarditis after cardiac surgery led to the patient's death.

Bypass surgery in aortoiliac or aortofemoral occlusive disease can be technically demanding and hazardous due to huge calcifications and/or patient co-morbidities. We report about mid-term results of a telescoping sutureless aortic anastomosis technique using endografts as connectors to address such challenging situations. This is a single-center experience (2004–2011) in seven patients (63 ± 6 years) requiring aortoiliac (three) or aortofemoral (four) bypass surgery. We described a modified technique for implanting a bridging stent-graft into an iliac branched device. A 79-year-old male who had received aortobiiliac synthetic graft surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm six months earlier was admitted to our unit for treatment of a left common iliac aneurysm involving the origin of the hypogastric artery. A standard technique was unsuccessful at implanting the bridging stent-graft, and therefore a wire-loop guidewire over the graft bifurcation was used to stabilize the contralateral sheaths and to complete the implantation. © Turkish Society of Radiology 2012.

Long-Term Results of Stenting of the Aortic Bifurcation

Background To evaluate the long-term results in a multicentric continuous series of narrowing lesions of the aortic bifurcation treated with a kissing stent. Methods From January, 1st 1999 to the December, 31st 2001, all of the patients ( n = 80) presenting with stenosis of the aortic bifurcation ( n = 15) and/or the 2 common iliac arteries ( n = 65), treated with a kissing stent, in 8 teaching hospitals were collected retrospectively. The risk factors were smoking (91%), dyslipidemia (60%), arterial hypertension (42%) and diabetes (27%). In 84% of cases, the indication for treatment was claudication.
