Is there a single principle by which neural operations can account for perception, cognition, action, and even consciousness? A strong candidate is now taking shape in the form of “predictive processing”. On this theory, brains engage in predictive inference on the causes of sensory inputs by continuous minimization of prediction errors or informational “free energy”. Molecular characterization of Treponema pallidum subsp. pallidum in Switzerland and France with a new multilocus sequence typing scheme

Syphilis is an important public health problem and an increasing incidence has been noted in recent years. Characterization of strain diversity through molecular data plays a critical role in the epidemiological understanding of this re-emergence. We here propose a new high-resolution multilocus sequence typing (MLST) scheme for Treponema pallidum subsp. pallidum (TPA). We analyzed 30 complete and draft TPA genomes obtained directly from clinical samples or from rabbit propagated strains to identify suitable typing loci and tested the new scheme on 120 clinical samples collected in Switzerland and France. Esta tesis analiza las repercusiones que tiene el estudio de la música en el rendimiento académico del niño y niña de primaria. Para ello se han investigado los principales agentes que confluyen en el proceso de aprendizaje y enseñanza musical: el alumnado de conservatorio / sociedad musical y los profesores que imparten docencia musical. Se realiza en un contexto musicalmente prolífero como es la Comunidad Valenciana que también es referente a nivel nacional e internacional en cuanto a intérpretes y compositores. Consumo de alcohol, tabaco, cannabis y otras drogas en la adolescencia: efectos de la familia y peligro del barrio

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los factores de protección o riesgo de los estilos educativos parentales para el consumo de alcohol, tabaco, cannabis y otras drogas, considerando la interacción de los estilos parentales con la peligrosidad del barrio. A partir de las respuestas de 628 adolescentes, 369 mujeres (58.8%) y 259 hombres (41.2%) entre 15 y 17 años (M = 16.03 años, DT = 0.79 años), se clasificaron las familias según el estilo educativo (autorizativo, indulgente, autoritario o negligente) y el riesgo percibido en el barrio (alto o bajo).
