Color and Flow Based Superpixels for 3D Geometry Respecting Meshing

We present an adaptive weight based superpixel segmentation method for the goal of creating mesh representation that respects the 3D scene structure. We propose a new fusion framework which employs both dense optical flow and color images to compute the probability of boundaries. The main contribution of this work is that we introduce a new color and optical flow pixel-wise weighting model that takes into account the non-linear error distribution of the depth estimation from optical flow. Experiments show that our method is better than the other state-of-art methods in terms of smaller error in the final produced mesh.
Karhunen-Loe`ve transform applied to region-based segmentation of color aerial images

The use of the Karhunen-Loeve transform (KLT) for region- based segmentation of aerial images by color and textural attributes is presented. Our aerial images are shown to be homogeneous color im- ages within the Karhunen-Loeve color representation space, which means they can be represented more easily and the region-based seg- mentation algorithms can be optimized. For texture analysis, the KLT is the basis of the local linear transform (LLT) and allows structural infor- mation about textures to be represented in an optimal and condensed manner. A method to measure the similarity between color images is proposed.Correlation among the color image channels is taken into account.Proposed similarity measure is based on fuzzy metrics because of their advantages.The proposal matches well with the perceptual visual similarity between color images. On the uniform sampling of CIELAB color space and the number of discernible colors

This paper presents a useful algorithmic strategy to sample uniformly the CIELAB color space based on close packed hexagonal grid. This sampling scheme has been used successfully in different research works from computational color science to color image processing. The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate the relevance and the accuracy of the hexagonal grid sampling method applied to the CIELAB color space. The second objective of this paper is to show that the number of color samples computed depends on the application and on the color gamut boundary considered. As demonstration, we use this sampling to support a discussion on the number of discernible colors related to a JND.

Tighter Relations between Sensitivity and Other Complexity Measures

The sensitivity conjecture of Nisan and Szegedy [12] asks whether the maximum sensitivity of a Boolean function is polynomially related to the other major complexity measures of Boolean functions. Despite major advances in analysis of Boolean functions in the past decade, the problem remains wide open with no positive result toward the conjecture since the work of Kenyon and Kutin from 2004 [11].
S_Kernel: A New Symmetry Measure

Symmetry is an important feature in vision. Several detectors or transforms have been proposed. In this paper we concentrate on a measure of symmetry. Given a transform S, the kernel SK of a pattern is defined as the maximal included symmetric sub-set of this pattern. It is easily proven that, in any direction, the optimal axis corresponds to the maximal correlation of a pattern with its flipped version. For the measure we compute a modified difference between respective surfaces of a pattern and its kernel. That founds an efficient algorithm to attention focusing on symmetric patterns.

In this paper we consider, in the framework of coherence, four different definitions of conjunction among conditional events. In each of these definitions the conjunction is still a conditional event. We first recall the different definitions of conjunction; then, given a coherent probability assessment (x, y) on a family of two conditional events \(\{A|H,B|K\}\), for each conjunction \((A|H) \wedge (B|K)\) we determine the (best) lower and upper bounds for the extension \(z=P[(A|H) \wedge (B|K)]\).
