Conformational changes in Cmethyl-resorcinarene pyridine N -oxide inclusion complexes in the solid state

2016

Aromatic N-oxides interact with Cmethyl-resorcinarene resulting in marked changes in the conformation of the host resorcinarene. In the solid state, 2- and 3-methylpyridine N-oxides form pseudo-capsular 2 : 2 endo host-guest complexes with Cmethyl-resorcinarene stabilized by C-H⋯π interactions. The Cmethyl-resorcinarene·2-methylpyridine N-oxide complex has a C4v crown conformation, while the Cmethyl-resorcinarene·3-methylpyridine N-oxide complex has a slightly open C2v boat conformation. On the contrary, other para-substituted and benzo-fused pyridine N-oxides form only exo complexes with Cmethyl-resorcinarene. In the exo complexes, the asymmetry of the guest, conformational flexibility and…

Dehydration of melt inclusions in olivine and implications for the origin of silica-undersaturated island-arc melts

2019

Highlights • New experiments with melt inclusions in olivine at 1200 °C and 300 MPa. • Coupled behavior H2O and SiO2 in inclusions during re-hydration and dehydration. • SiO2 mobility results from formation/destruction of metal vacant olivine. • SiO2-undersaturated arc melt inclusions may originate by dehydration. • New method to assess initial H2O in dehydrated inclusions. Abstract Primary subduction-related magmas build up modern continental crust and counterbalance massive recycling of crustal material into the deep mantle occurring at this tectonic setting. Melt inclusions in Mg-rich olivine are believed to be the best probes of primary subduction-related melts. However, unexpectedly, m…

Eclogite xenoliths from the Kuruman kimberlites, South Africa: geochemical fingerprinting of deep subduction and cumulate processes☆

2004

The mineralogically diverse eclogite xenolith suite sampled by the >1.6 Ga Zero kimberlite in the Kuruman group, close to the western edge of the Kaapvaal craton consists of bimineralic eclogites, orthopyroxene-bearing eclogites with and without sanidine, and kyanite eclogites. Garnet exsolutions in clinopyroxene occur in all Zero eclogite types, and orthopyroxene and, where present, sanidine are also exsolved from clinopyroxene in orthopyroxene-bearing eclogites. Mineral thermobarometry indicates that the last P–T condition prior to the kimberlite eruption was 900–950 °C at 3.5–4.0 GPa. However, inclusions of quartz, rutile and rarely K-feldspar, plus former fluid inclusions in garnets, in…

Relationship of Mediterranean type lamproites to large shoshonite volcanoes, Miocene of Lesbos, NE Aegean Sea

2014

Abstract Shoshonites, which are high-K trachyandesitic rocks, are found in many orogenic belts and are commonly of post-collisional origin. The petrogenesis of shoshonites has been widely debated. Small lava flows and dykes of lamproite and related lamproitic rocks of early Miocene age in Lesbos are coeval with voluminous shoshonite volcanoes. Their distinctive petrology and isotope geochemistry provide an exceptional opportunity to assess the petrogenetic relationship between lamproites and shoshonites. The lamproitic rocks contain phenocrysts of forsteritic olivine (as high as Fo93) and clinopyroxene, both with inclusions of chrome spinel (Cr# ~ 0.9 or ~ 0.6) and carbonate melt inclusions…

Supervisors’ relational transparency moderates effects among employees’ illegitimate tasks and job dissatisfaction: a four-wave panel study

2019

Despite repeated calls for the inclusion of leadership in research on illegitimate tasks, little is known about what supervisors can actually do to mitigate negative effects of illegitimate tasks. ...

The skill paradox: explaining and reducing employment discrimination against skilled immigrants

2015

Using a social identity theory approach, we theorized that recruiters might be particularly biased against skilled immigrant applicants. We refer to this phenomenon as a skill paradox, according to which immigrants are more likely to be targets of employment discrimination the more skilled they are. Furthermore, building on the common ingroup identity model, we proposed that this paradox can be resolved through human resource management (HRM) strategies that promote inclusive hiring practices (e.g., by emphasizing fit with a diverse clientele). The results from a laboratory experiment were consistent with our predictions: Local recruiters preferred skilled local applicants over skilled immi…

Assessment of the Elastographic and Electromyographic of Pelvic Floor Muscles in Postmenopausal Women with Stress Urinary Incontinence Symptoms

2021

Background. Shear wave elastography is an effective method for studying the condition of various musculoskeletal soft tissues. The primary aim of this study was the objective elastographic and electromyographic assessment of the pelvic floor during the rest and contraction of the pelvic floor muscles (PFM) in postmenopausal women. Methods. This was a prospective observational study that was carried out at the University Hospital in Wroclaw, Poland, between January 2017 and December 2019. Patients. The target group of the study included postmenopausal women with stress urinary incontinence. The primary outcomes were the features of the elastographic assessment of the pelvic floor during rest…

Scuola inclusiva e Outdoor Education.
