The reciprocal effects of social network site use and the disposition for self-disclosure: A longitudinal study

2013

Since the advent of social network sites (SNSs), scholars have critically discussed the psychological and societal implication of online self-disclosure. Does Facebook change our willingness to disclose personal information? The present study proposes that the use of SNSs and the psychological disposition for self-disclosure interact reciprocally: Individuals with a stronger disposition show a higher tendency to use SNSs (selection effect). At the same time, frequent SNS use increases the wish to self-disclose online, because self-disclosing behaviors are reinforced through social capital within the SNS environment (socialization effect). In a longitudinal panel study, 488 users of SNSs wer…

2011

Masteroppgave i offentlig politikk og ledelse- Universitetet i Agder 2011 The aim of this study is to analyze how leaders apply different leadership styles. As different situations require different types of leadership, it is assumed that a leader, at any time, is flexible in their choice of leadership style. This study will consider how aware a leader is of his or her flexibility to choose between different leadership styles. This paper tries to figure out how leaders choose their leadership style, and whether the choice of a leadership style is a conscious or an intuitive one. This study draws on trait and behavior theories, and also on the theory of emotional intelligence. Through these …

Rhythmic and textural musical sequences differently influence syntax and semantic processing in children.

2020

International audience; Effects of music on language processing have been reported separately for syntax and for semantics. Previous studies have shown that regular musical rhythms can facilitate syntax processing and that semantic features of musical excerpts can inZluence semantic processing of words. It remains unclear whether musical parameters, such as rhythm and sound texture, may speciZically inZluence different components of linguistic processing. In the current study, two types of musical sequences (one focusing on rhythm and the other focusing on sound texture) were presented to children who were requested to perform a syntax or a semantic task thereafter. The results revealed tha…

How does brand-related user-generated content differ across social media? Evidence reloaded

2019

Abstract In light of the relevant changes in the social media environment in recent years, this paper extends the theoretical framework of user-generated content (UGC) dimensions and updates evidence on how brand-related UGC characteristics vary across social media. Using content analysis and statistical analysis of frequencies, we compare how different social media (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube) shape twelve important UGC dimensions. Our findings suggest that, by flattening the differences on visual and richer content, the recent trends have made Facebook and Twitter more similar to YouTube on certain brand-related UGC dimensions (e.g., self-presentation, brand centrality, brand recommen…
