Stochastic analysis of dynamical systems with delayed control forces

Abstract Reduction of structural vibration in actively controlled dynamical system is usually performed by means of convenient control forces dependent of the dynamic response. In this paper the existent studies will be extended to dynamical systems subjected to non-normal delta-correlated random process with delayed control forces. On the effect of analog noise in discrete-time analog computations

We introduce a model for analog computation with discrete time in the presence of analog noise that is flexible enough to cover the most important concrete cases, such as noisy analog neural nets and networks of spiking neurons. This model subsumes the classical model for digital computation in the presence of noise. We show that the presence of arbitrarily small amounts of analog noise reduces the power of analog computational models to that of finite automata, and we also prove a new type of upper bound for the VC-dimension of computational models with analog noise.

This paper shows for a class of differential games that the global Stackelberg equilibrium (GSE) coincides with the feedback Stackelberg equilibrium (FSE), although the GSE assumes that the leader/regulator an- nounces at the initial time the regulatory instrument rule she will follow for the rest of the game, while in the FSE, the regulator at any time chooses the optimal level of the regulatory instrument rate. TUG-OF-WAR, MARKET MANIPULATION, AND OPTION PRICING

We develop an option pricing model based on a tug-of-war game involving the the issuer and holder of the option. This two-player zero-sum stochastic differential game is formulated in a multi-dimensional financial market and the agents try, respectively, to manipulate/control the drift and the volatility of the asset processes in order to minimize and maximize the expected discounted pay-off defined at the terminal date $T$. We prove that the game has a value and that the value function is the unique viscosity solution to a terminal value problem for a partial differential equation involving the non-linear and completely degenerate parabolic infinity Laplace operator.
Efficient Parallel Nash Genetic Algorithm for Solving Inverse Problems in Structural Engineering

A parallel implementation of a game-theory based Nash Genetic Algorithm (Nash-GAs) is presented in this paper for solving reconstruction inverse problems in structural engineering. We compare it with the standard panmictic genetic algorithm in a HPC environment with up to eight processors. The procedure performance is evaluated on a fifty-five bar sized test case of discrete real cross-section types structural frame. Numerical results obtained on this application show a significant achieved increase of performance using the parallel Nash-GAs approach compared to the standard GAs or Parallel GAs.
Rational irreducible characters and rational conjugacy classes in finite groups

We prove that a finite group G G has two rational-valued irreducible characters if and only if it has two rational conjugacy classes, and determine the structure of any such group. Along the way we also prove a conjecture of Gow stating that any finite group of even order has a non-trivial rational-valued irreducible character of odd degree.
