Effects of Weak Links in the Nonlinear Microwave Response of MgB2 Superconductor

We report experimental results of second-harmonic (SH) response at microwave frequency in several ceramic MgB2 samples, prepared by different methods. The SH signal has been investigated as a function of the temperature and DC magnetic field. The investigation has been carried out at low magnetic fields, where nonlinear processes arising from motion of Abrikosov fluxons are ineffective. We show that the low-temperature SH emission is ascribable to processes involving weak links. Indoor free space optics link under the weak turbulence regime: Measurements and model validation

In this study, the authors present the measurements performed on a free space optics (FSO) communications link using an indoor atmospheric chamber. In particular, the authors have generated several different optical turbulence conditions, demonstrating how even the weak turbulence regime can strongly affect the FSO link performance. The authors have carried out an in-depth analysis of the data collected during the measurements, and calculated the turbulence strength (i.e. scintillation index and Rytov variance) and the important performance metrics (i.e. the Q-factor and bit error rate) to evaluate the FSO link quality. Greek tradition links the death of regent Pausanias of Sparta with ghosts. In this paper, we focus on the well-known episode that revolves around Pausanias himself and a Byzantine maiden and is transmitted by Aristodemus, Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes. The multiplicity of versions demands a comparative analysis, which we carry out taking into account the three spaces where the narrative action takes place (civic, intimate and ritual spaces). Results indicate a concordance between Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes, as well as a dissonance between them and Aristodemus. Governance of Projects: Generating value by linking projects with their permanent organisation

Abstract There exists little research into how value is effectively generated by temporary projects from the wider perspective of a permanent organisation. This paper investigates empirically how ‘Governance of Projects’ – the way in which a single, permanent organisation identifies, creates, and subsequently harvests value through multiple projects – occurs in four private-sector case companies. Data were collected from in-depth interviews with a wide range of employees and from internal operational documents. We define a finite-dimensional cubic quotient of the group algebra of the braid group, endowed with a (essentially unique) Markov trace which affords the Links-Grould invariant of knots and links. We investigate several of its properties, and state several conjectures about its structure.

Bakalaura darbā tika veikta kadmiju saturošu augstfrekvences bezelektrodu lampu (ABL) spektru reģistrācija un identifikācija. Tika analizēta kadmija, cinka, dzīvsudraba un argona spektrālo līniju intensitātes atkarība no ierosmes ģeneratora jaudas, kā arī tika aplūkota ABL starojuma intensitātes stabilitāte laikā. Darba ietvaros LU Atomfizikas un spektroskopijas institūtā veidotās lampas tika salīdzinātas ar komerciāli pieejamu kadmiju saturošu ABL.

People performing regular physical activity are at high risk of dental erosion especially in cases of high sport drinks intake. Biomimetic hydroxyapatite-based oral hygiene products, like toothpastes and mouthwashes, have been investigated in recent years for their remineralizing activity on the teeth.
