Stereoselective Synthesis of New 4-Aryl-5-indolyl-1,2,4-triazole S- and N-β-Galactosides: Characterizations, X-ray Crystal Structure and Hirshfeld Su…

2023

5-(1H-Indol-2-yl)-4-phenyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione 1a and 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione 1b were galactosylated in the presence of NaHCO3 in ethanol to produce S-galactosides 3,4, whereas, in the presence of K2CO3 in acetone they produced a mixture of S- and N-galactosides 3-6 with a higher yield of S-galactosides over the respective N-galactosides. Improvement in the yields of N-galactosides was produced by thermal migration of the galactosyl moiety from sulfur to nitrogen using fusion. β-Stereoselectivity of galactosylation was determined using the coupling constant value 3J1,2, which exceeded 9.0 Hz in all prepared galactos…

Synthesis and Solid-State X-ray Structure of the Mononuclear Palladium(II) Complex Based on 1,2,3-Triazole Ligand

2022

Herein, we described the synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of the new [Pd(3)2Cl2] complex with 1,2,3-triazole-based ligand (3). In the unit cell, there are two [Pd(3)2Cl2] molecules, and the asymmetric unit comprised half of this formula due to the presence of an inversion symmetry element at the Pd(II) center. The monoclinic unit cell volume is 1327.85(6) Å3, with crystal parameters of a = 10.7712(2) Å, b = 6.8500(2) Å, and c = 18.2136(6) Å, while β = 98.851(2)°. The structure comprised two trans triazole ligand units coordinated to the Pd(II) ion via one of the N-atoms of the triazole moiety. In addition, the Pd(II) is further coordinated with two tran…

Surface interaction of Ni/Mo oxides on ultrastable Y zeolites

1986

The interactions of NiO, MoO 3 and their mixtures with the acid surface of an H-Y ultrastable zeolite have been studied on a series of samples. These samples were prepared by impregnation, calcination and reduction, (if necessary), of Ni and Mo salts, on an H-Y ultrastable zeolite (HYUS). By using i.r. spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques it has been observed that MoO 3 interacts with most of the hydroxyl groups while NiO interacts only with those appearing at 3640 and 3550 cm −1 . In the samples containing both oxides a strong interaction between them is shown, while the acidity of the original HYUS is partially regenerated. The influence of the order of impregnation on the final …

Layered Double Hydroxides: A Toolbox for Chemistry and Biology

2019

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are an emergent class of biocompatible inorganic lamellar nanomaterials that have attracted significant research interest owing to their high surface-to-volume ratio, the capability to accumulate specific molecules, and the timely release to targets. Their unique properties have been employed for applications in organic catalysis, photocatalysis, sensors, drug delivery, and cell biology. Given the widespread contemporary interest in these topics, time-to-time it urges to review the recent progresses. This review aims to summarize the most recent cutting-edge reports appearing in the last years. It firstly focuses on the application of LDHs as catalysts in re…

LFER and the Effect of Temperature on Oxyanion Adsorption by Goethite

2019

A linear relationship between the Gibbs free energy, ΔGr,H+, of the aqueous complex deprotonation reaction, and the Gibbs free energy, ΔGr,ads, of bidentate surface complexation reaction of oxyanions was derived from modelling of temperature dependent batch equilibrium adsorption experiments. As exemplified in this study, this relationship may be exploited to predict temperature-dependent adsorption behavior of oxyanions not yet known such as pertechnetate.

New Insights into the complexation of lead(II) by 1,4,7,10-tetrakis(carbamoylmethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (DOTAM): structural, thermodynami…

2007

The lead(II) coordination properties of the tetrapodal ligand DOTAM [1,4,7,10-tetrakis(carbamoylmethyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraaza-cyclododecane] have been investigated both in the solid state and in solution in order to ascertain the stereoactivity of the lone pair and to rationalize the structural effects of a cyclen-based scaffold on the metal uptake kinetics. The crystal structure of the free base shows that the pendant acetamide groups are not equivalent: two are folded over the macrocycle and maintained by an intramolecular hydrogen bond involving an amide hydrogen atom and a neighboring tertiary amine of the cyclen ring, while the other two are extended and point away from the macrocyclic cav…

RNA-Binding Proteins as Epigenetic Regulators of Brain Functions and Their Involvement in Neurodegeneration.

2022

A central aspect of nervous system development and function is the post-transcriptional regulation of mRNA fate, which implies time- and site-dependent translation, in response to cues originating from cell-to-cell crosstalk. Such events are fundamental for the establishment of brain cell asymmetry, as well as of long-lasting modifications of synapses (long-term potentiation: LTP), responsible for learning, memory, and higher cognitive functions. Post-transcriptional regulation is in turn dependent on RNA-binding proteins that, by recognizing and binding brief RNA sequences, base modifications, or secondary/tertiary structures, are able to control maturation, localization, stability, and tr…

Lipase-catalyzed resolution of β-hydroxy selenides

2006

Abstract Eleven β-hydroxy selenides were kinetically resolved using an immobilized lipase (Amano PS-C II) in toluene in the presence of vinyl acetate at 30 °C. This approach provided, in several cases, both enantiomers in high enantiomeric excess. The role of the size of substituents and the behaviour of cyclic β-hydroxy selenides is also discussed. Enantiopure β-hydroxy selenides are useful building blocks. As an application of this chemistry, enantiopure (1 S ,2 R )-indene oxide was obtained in one step from the proper enantiopure β-hydroxy selenide.

Effects of Long-Term Physical Activity and BCAA Availability on the Subcellular Associations between Intramyocellular Lipids, Perilipins and PGC-1&al…

2023

Cellular skeletal muscle lipid metabolism is of paramount importance for metabolic health, specifically through its connection to branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) metabolism and through its modulation by exercise. In this study, we aimed at better understanding intramyocellular lipids (IMCL) and their related key proteins in response to physical activity and BCAA deprivation. By means of confocal microscopy, we examined IMCL and the lipid droplet coating proteins PLIN2 and PLIN5 in human twin pairs discordant for physical activity. Additionally, in order to study IMCLs, PLINs and their association to peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α) in cytosolic…
