Phase Behavior of Active Swimmers in Depletants: Molecular Dynamics and Integral Equation Theory

We study the structure and phase behavior of a binary mixture where one of the components is self-propelling in nature. The inter-particle interactions in the system were taken from the Asakura-Oosawa model, for colloid-polymer mixtures, for which the phase diagram is known. In the current model version the colloid particles were made active using the Vicsek model for self-propelling particles. The resultant active system was studied by molecular dynamics methods and integral equation theory. Both methods produce results consistent with each other and demonstrate that the Vicsek model based activity facilitates phase separation, thus broadening the coexistence region.

Let X; Y subset of R-2 be topologically equivalent bounded Lipschitz domains. We prove that weak and strong limits of homeomorphisms h: X (onto)-> Y in the Sobolev space W-1,W-p (X, R-2), p >= 2; are the same. Abstract The properties of various algorithms, estimators, and high-temperature density matrix (HTDM) decompositions relevant for path integral simulations are discussed. It is shown that Fourier accelerated path integral molecular dynamics (PIMD) completely eliminates slowing down with increasing Trotter number P . A new primitive estimator of the kinetic energy for use in PIMD simulations is found to behave less pathologically than the original virial estimator. In particular, its variance does not increase significantly with P . Intrusive luxation is a type of recognizable luxation injury represented by a deeper axial displacement of the tooth toward the alveolar bone. Treatment strategies include waiting for the tooth to return to its position, immediate surgical repositioning, and repositioning through dental traction by orthodontic devices. The aim of this case report was to present the management of severe dental trauma and later restoration following IADT. Hard-sphere fluids in annular wedges: density distributions and depletion potentials.

We analyze the density distribution and the adsorption of solvent hard spheres in an annular slit formed by two large solute spheres or a large solute and a wall at close distances by means of fundamental measure density functional theory, anisotropic integral equations and simulations. We find that the main features of the density distribution in the slit are described by an effective, two--dimensional system of disks in the vicinity of a central obstacle. For large solute--solvent size ratios, the resulting depletion force has a straightforward geometrical interpretation which gives a precise "colloidal" limit for the depletion interaction.
