Patología Traumática Asociada poco Frecuente: Avulsión del L.C.P. y Fractura Ipsilateral de Diáf as is Femoral : (presentación de un caso)

1989

One case of femoral shaft fracture with acute posterior cruciate rupture is showed by the authors. There are differents papers than point out this association and the late diagnosis of the ligament injury.

Lesión iatrogénica de las arterias glúteas superior e inferior tras la fijación de fractura pertrocantérea con clavo céfalo-medular (clavo gamma 3®)

2018

Iatrogenic vascular injury during hip fracture surgery is a rare complication, with infrequent reports of injury during the procedure of cephalo-medullary nailing. We describe a case report of a 94 years old female with a pertrochanteric fracture complicated by an injury to the superior and inferior gluteal artery which occurred during insertion of the nail. There is a risk of lesion of the arteries gluteal during the location in the greater trochanter starting point for the nail insertion. For this reason, its important during this step of the operation look out a possible lesion and postoperative control for a correct diagnostic and early treatment

Sensitivity of direct immunofluorescence in oral diseases : study of 125 cases

2008

Direct immunofluorescence (DIF) is widely used for the diagnosis of bullous diseases and other autoimmune pathologies such as oral lichen planus. There is no evidence in the literature on how the following variants influence the detection rate of DIF: intraoral site chosen for the biopsy, perilesional locus or distant site from the clinical lesion, number of biopsies and instrument used. Objectives: to determine if the following variants influenced the sensitivity (detection rate): intraoral site chosen for the biopsy, perilesional or distant site from the clinical lesion, number of biopsies and instrument used (punch or scalpel). Material and methods: A retrospective study was done at the …

Treatment with removable prosthesis in hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia : a clinical case

2008

Ectodermal dysplasias form part of a wide range of syndromes presenting abnormal development of two or more tissues derived from the ectoderm. Hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia is a congenital syndrome, characterized by hypotrichosis (hair is sparse, fine and weak; anomalies in the skin and nails), hypohidrosis (due to the paucity of sweat glands which in turn gives rise to sweat disorders) and hypodontia (partial, and occasionally total, absence of primary and/or permanent dentition). A case of a child with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia with oligodontia and marked resorption of the maxillary and mandibular alveolar ridges is presented. A prosthetic rehabilitation in the form of a remov…

Enclavijamiento intramedular con cerrojo : método de Kempf y Grosse

1988

Fifteen femoral shaft fractures treated with interlocking nailing · Kempf and Grosse's technique are collected. This procedure is suitable for some femoral fractures which could not be treated with the usual Küntscher's method. The biomechanical conditions of Kempf's system improved the results: the fixation is solid and stable.

Mechanical parameters identification of keloid and surrounding healthy skin using Digital Image Correlation measurements in vivo

2019

International audience; The human skin behaves as an elastic membrane initially prestressed but not uniformly. The presence of anatomical sites favorable to the appearance of some tumors, a keloid in our case, while other sites never develop them attests to the importance of the mechanical environment of the tissue. Thus, a mechanical characterization of the tumored skin is necessary to understand the keloid expansion from a mechanical point of view. Our case study consists in modeling a bi-material structure composed of a keloid skin surrounded by healthy skin located on upper left arm of a young female. From the experimental measurements in vivo, by combining force sensor, displacement se…

Forehead Patch Size Predicts the Outcome of Male–Male Competition in the Pied Flycatcher

2013

Males of many animal species express ornaments that affect their reproduction opportunities through male–male competition or female mate choice. Such ornaments can, for example, inform conspecifics about the fighting ability, condition or territory ownership of the bearer. Pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) males have a conspicuous white forehead patch that varies greatly in size. We examined whether the white forehead patch is an intrasexually selected trait in a Finnish population. We artificially manipulated forehead patch size to represent two naturally occurring extremes and competed males against each other in the presence of a female. Males with a large forehead patch were more agg…

PET Imaging of the Impact of Extracellular pH and MAP Kinases on the p-Glycoprotein (Pgp) Activity

2012

The functional activity of p-glycoprotein (Pgp) can be increased in vitro by an extracellular acidosis via activation of MAP kinases (p38, ERK1/2). In order to study these effects in vivo a new (68)Ga-labeled PET tracer was developed which serves as a substrate of the Pgp and therefore indirectly mirrors the Pgp activity. For in vivo studies, experimental tumors were imaged under acidic conditions (inspiratory hypoxia, injection of lactic acid) and during inhibition of MAP kinases in a μ-PET system. In vitro, [(68)Ga]MFL6.MZ showed an accumulation within the cells of about 20% which was increased to 30% by Pgp inhibition. In solid tumors a marked tracer uptake was observed showing spatial h…

Magnetofection of acoustically active „magnetic microspheres“ (Magnetobubbles) — Induction of angiogenesis via non-viral transfection of VEGF

2009

Adenoviral transduction of the VEGF gene in an oversized skin flap increases flap survival and perfusion. In this study we investigated the potential of magnetofection of magnetic lipospheres containing VEGF165-cDNA on survival and perfusion of ischemic skin flaps and evaluated the method with respect to the significance of applied magnetic field and ultrasound.

Experimentelle Bestimmung der Gleitreibungskräfte beim Einschlagen von Oberschenkelmarknägeln

1990

No data have published concerning the procedure of driving in intramedullary nails. An extensive experimental device consisting of a contact-free distance measurement, a dynamograph connected to strain gages and an accelerometer now enabled this investigation. Among other things we determined the range of sliding friction for each stroke at different levels of nail-progression. Depending of the depth of nail-progression forces between 200 N und 400 N were measured. When the nail is stuck these values rise to over 1000 N. The sliding-process lasted between 10 ms and 20 ms. Knowledge of these data is of major importance for improvement of surgical technique and possible development of mechani…
