Credit card incidents and control systems
2012
Abstract Credit and debit cards have spread and skyrocketed all around the world to become the most popular means of payments in many countries. Despite their enormous popularity, cards are not free of risk. Technology development and e-commerce have exponentially increased internal credit card incidents. This paper identifies and quantifies the different types of credit card fraud and puts into question the effectiveness of the role assigned to cardholders in its detection.
GLI INTERESSI PROFESSIONALI ESPLORATI ATTRAVERSO LO STRONG-CAMPBELL INTEREST INVENTORY (SCII): LE PRIME SCALE ITALIANE
2005
Background: In the field of career development and vocational psychology, E. K. Strong's measures of interests have a central role. Many studies propose these tests (Strong Vocational Interest Blank, Strong Interest Inventory) as a way to make use of human interests to explore cultural differences; this does not occur in Italy, where the difficulty in scoring (many extremely complex scales to evaluate, without computer support) an Italian SVIB version proposed by Sprini and Mineo (1967) caused their low diffusion. The aim of this study is the translation and validation of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory (SCII, form T325) in the Italian context. Methods: The SCII was translated and ba…
Algunas reflexiones acerca de la stjue de 9 de julio de 2020 sobre los pactos novatorios en materia de cláusulas suelo
2021
The Sentence of the Court of Justice of the European Union of July 9, 2020 comes to answer the five questions that, in its preliminary question, the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 3 of Teruel asks about the validity of the new agreements in the context of the floor clauses, establishing jurisprudential doctrine on this matter about which our Supreme Court had previously ruled in its Judgments of October 16, 2017, in the sense of considering the agreed floor clause null as a consequence of the novation agreement and, subsequently, those of April 11, 2018 and September 13, 2018 in the opposite direction, declaring that the novation agreement was valid. It is a long-awaited and in…
Exercise, Chronotropic and Inotropic Capacity in Athletes with Different Training Programmes
2020
Abstract Amateur sport has significant influence on peoples’ physical activity and affects the prevalence of non-communicable diseases. The population of competing amateur athletes has not been sufficiently studied, and there is a huge gap between functional results of untrained individuals and professional athletes. The aim of the study was to evaluate the exercise capacity and chrono-tropic, inotropic capacity in amateur athletes with different training programmes, as assessed by cardiopulmonary exercise testing. In a longitudinal prospective study, 600 amateur athletes who performed high dynamic load sports, according to the Mitchell Classification of Sports, were assessed. The individua…
Democracy as Action in Concert and Social State’s Future
2015
This article departs from the analysis of the two possible and opposing visions of politics that distinguishes Arendt: politics as a way of dominion and politics as action in concert. It presents the problem of the necessity to regenerate democracy on the basis of a greater political commitment of all citizens, going deep into the conditions under which democracies can effectively become channels for political action in the noblest sense of the term: as the ability of a group to act in concert, to pursue common objectives, to work for the general interest and the justice of institutions. These conditions for a civic democracy would be mainly: social cohesion, participation and inclusion

Ethics in Legal Research
2023
The essay grapples with one of the most controversial issues about legal research, namely its complex ethical and methodological dimension—here argued to be comparative—assessing the high scientific value of studying law. After clarifying what differentiates such a field of research from other natural and social studies, the authors address the presence of secondary interests and the need to use personal data for scientific purposes, as relevant situations which could undermine the reliability of any legal research or allow its thoroughness at the risk of interfering with human rights. The adherence to a rigorous and effective method in investigating national and foreign law, and the compli…
Financial Fragility and Interacting Units: an Exercise
2010
This paper assumes that financial fluctuations are the result of the dynamic interaction between liquidity and solvency conditions of individual financial units. The framework is designed as a heterogeneous agent model which proceeds through discrete time steps within a finite time horizon. The interaction at the microlevel between financial units and the market maker, who is in charge of clearing the market, produces interesting complex dynamics. The model is analyzed by means of numerical simulations and agent-based computational economics (ACE) approach. The behaviour and evolution of financial units are studied for different parameter regimes in order to show the importance of the param…
Automatic Calibration of an Industrial RGB-D Camera Network Using Retroreflective Fiducial Markers
2019
This paper describes a non-invasive, automatic, and robust method for calibrating a scalable RGB-D sensor network based on retroreflective ArUco markers and the iterative closest point (ICP) scheme. We demonstrate the system by calibrating a sensor network comprised of six sensor nodes positioned in a relatively large industrial robot cell with an approximate size of 10 m × 10 m × 4 m . Here, the automatic calibration achieved an average Euclidean error of 3 c m at distances up to 9.45 m . To achieve robustness, we apply several innovative techniques: Firstly, we mitigate the ambiguity problem that occurs when detecting a marker at long range or low resolution by comparing the…
