This paper explores the challenge of finding common ground between the Finns and the Chinese in the context of co-operation, trade and inward investment facilitation related to general lack of specific interest displayed by the Chinese. The article is ethnographic in nature and is mainly based on data obtained from interviewing individuals working for local governments in Finland and one of the state agencies responsible for attracting foreign investment. A New Perspective on the Relationship between Trading Variables and Volatility in Futures Markets

In this paper, we study the relationship between trading-related variables and volatility in futures markets, from a new unifying perspective, which is based on the separation of open and closed positions. Volatility in stock index futures markets (Standard & Poor’s 500, DAX 30 and Nikkei 225) is related to the flow of contracts entered into the markets and the flow of contracts that are closed out. In general, the daily changes in the number of open and closed positions are both positively correlated with volatility. This paper presents the main results of the research work that promoted the design and implementation of training and guidance played in the territory of Palermo during the school years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 in three secondary schools, with operating procedures, capable of promoting inclusive paths, based on the involvement of students, teachers and parents. Changes of total annual runoff distribution, high and low discharges in Latvian rivers The paper examines climate change impacts on the hydrological regime of nineteen different river basins in Latvia. Hydrological data series for the period of 1951-2006 were analysed for river basins of four hydrological districts: Western, Central, Northern and Eastern. Climate change has influenced the temporal and spatial distribution of total annual river runoff and high and low flows in Latvia at the turn of century. Remarks on negative interest rates

Negative nominal interest rates have been observed in several segments of financial markets. Being only partly a result of supply and demand and mainly enforced by the central banks, negative interest rates are getting more and more popular. While it is relatively easy to identify the reasons for this quite strange phenomenon, the con-sequences, especially the long-term consequences, are not too clear for both scientists and ordinary observers. This paper is an attempt to formulate some remarks on causes, evidence, and possible effects of negative interest rates. A warning is issued, with respect to monetary policy and financial stability.

Abstract Protozooplankton are dominant grazers of phytoplankton and an important component of the microbial food web, as a link between pico and nanoplankton to higher trophic levels. Their fast growing rate, relative abundance, biomass and diversity are used as indicators of organic and toxic pollution. The impact of urbanisation on ecosystems and their sustainability and biodiversity have recently been much studied.
