Analysis of the angular acceptance of surface plasmon Bragg mirrors

International audience; We analyze an important aspect of the behavior of surface plasmon polariton (SPP) Bragg mirrors: the dependence of the angular acceptance for reflection on the incidence angle. By means of leakage radiation microscopy, both in direct and Fourier space, we observe that the angular acceptance diminishes for increasing incidence angles. This effect, which can considerably affect the design of devices based on these elements, is shown to be the consequence of the decrease of the bandgap width with increasing incidence angle. International audience; This work aimed at combining different segmentation approaches to produce a robust and accurate segmentation result. Three to five segmentation results of the left ventricle were combined using the STAPLE algorithm and the reliability of the resulting segmentation was evaluated in comparison with the result of each individual segmentation method. This comparison was performed using a supervised approach based on a reference method. TheBrokmerbrefand the Emsigo Compensation Tariff concerning arson provide a number of occurrences of the wordkrocha, otherwise unrecorded in Old Frisian, in the meaning ‘coal pan’. Yet the Modern Frisian dialect words denote different sorts of cooking pots, either earthen or metal, and apparently do not support the specialized meaning of the Old Frisian. Coal pans were quite common in medieval times, however, and the legal provisions under examination provide both homely and lively descriptions of arson, possibly based on actual cases. Searching for signatures around 1920 MeV of a N-* state of three hadron nature

We provide a series of arguments which support the idea that the peak seen in the gamma p -> K+ Lambda reaction around 1920 MeV should correspond to the recently predicted state of J(P) = 1/2(+) as a bound state of K(K) over bar N with a mixture of alpha(0)(980)N and f(0)(980)N components. At the same time we propose polarization experiments in that reaction as a further test of the prediction, as well as a study of the total cross-section for gamma p -> K(+)K(-)p at energies close to threshold and of d sigma/dM(inv) for invariant masses close to the two-kaon threshold.

Literary studies have usually interpreted Samuel Beckett’s The Unnamable (1959) to reflect an area void of meaning and inaccessible to representation. The present article, by contrast, argues that Beckett experientially communicates archaic psychic reality where certain contents develop in an interpersonal relationship. The article offers psychoanalytical close readings of a few key passages in the text, where the function that is integrated in the narrative voice and actively destroys connections manifests itself on different textual levels. Traditionally it has been considered that the change in the configuration of the character of Helen in Euripides does not take place until its tragedy Helen . This is, without doubt, the central work in which the redefinition and positivation of Helen will reach a full theatrical development. We think, with everything, that a more attentive reading of the motives used in previous tragedies gives us the key for the correct interpretation of the innovations that the author is introducing in the tragic characterization of this mythical figure. This process can be fixed in a convulsed period in the Athenian life, which goes from Nicias’s Peace to Euripides’ definitive march of Athens.
Three-dimensional object detection under arbitrary lighting conditions

A novel method of 3D object recognition independent of lighting conditions is presented. The recognition model is based on a vector space representation using an orthonormal basis generated by the Lambertian reflectance functions obtained with distant light sources. Changing the lighting conditions corresponds to multiplying the elementary images by a constant factor and because of that, all possible lighting views will be elements that belong to that vector space.
