The composition of phytoplankton community is the basis for environmental monitoring and assessment of the ecological status of aquatic ecosystems. Community composition studies of phytoplankton have been based on time-consuming and expertise-demanding light microscopy analyses. Abstract Background immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) is one of the principal methods used for the analytical determination of neuron specific enolase (NSE) concentration. We studied the influence of temperature on the calibration curves obtained by this method, and a physicochemical justification based on two theoretical models is proposed. Material and methods we used a commercially available RIA kit for NSE and a gamma counter. Data was analysed using Statistical software. In modern high-NA optical scanning instruments, like scanning microscopes, the refractive-index mismatch between the sample and the immersion medium introduces a significant amount of spherical aberration when imaging deep inside the specimen, spreading out the impulse response. Since such aberration depends on the focalization depth, it is not possible to achieve a static global compensation for the whole 3D sample in scanning microscopy. Abstract The usual reading of Descartes' “anthropological” perspective classifies it as a radical dualism with a distinction between two substances, mind and body, which experience major interaction difficulties. Through a contextualization of Descartes' physiological and psychological thought as well as through a less fragmented reading of his work, we intend to review this traditional interpretation, thereby showing its distorted character. When we pay attention to passion, a new Descartes’ image as a sort of phenomenal monism appears, which is markedly different from the legendary image typically associated with him, even today.
On the interpretation of retrograde reaction textures in granulite facies rocks

Retrograde reaction textures, such as partial pseudomorphs, coronae and symplectic coronae are a relatively common feature of granulite facies rocks and represent evidence of change of mineral modes or assemblages. Thus, such reaction textures represent one of the more potentially useful indicators of retrograde P-T evolutions. However, the interpretation of such textures requires the simultaneous consideration of the formation of the texture itself in terms of the spatial relationships in a rock, and of the changes in P-T conditions that drove the development of the reaction texture. Prediction and Interpretation of Some Pharmacological Properties of Cephalosporins Using Molecular Connectivity

A method of molecular connectivity was used to study the pharmacological and antimicrobial properties of 34 cephalosporin antibiotics to verify its applicability to these parameters. By using Kier and Hall connectivity indices (Xi) as well as geometric indices (GIs), good correlation equations were obtained with a low number of variables. In some cases, such as the lethal dose for 50% of group (LD50) values and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, better regression equations were obtained with the GIs alone, confirming their alternative nature with respect to Xi, indices.

Przedmiotem opracowania jest problematyka mocy wiążącej uchwał Sądu Najwyższego podejmowanych w konkretnych sprawach karnych. AbstractIn this paper we introduce a new (non-Turing equivalent) formal model of recursive concurrent programs called well-formed communicating recursive state machines (CRSM). CRSM extend recursive state machines (RSM) by allowing a restricted form of concurrency: a state of a module can be refined into a finite collection of modules (working in parallel) in a potentially recursive manner. Communication is only possible between the activations of modules invoked on the same fork.
