RATIONALE Calcific tendinopathy is one of the most frequent causes of nontraumatic shoulder pain. However, intra-articular calcifications appear to be an infrequent condition. We herein report a rare case study of an intra-articular calcification of the acromioclavicular joint. PATIENT CONCERNS A 46-year-old man presented with an acute pain in the anterior superior region of the left shoulder which also radiated to the left cervical region. Background To improve the transparency of the local health care system, treatment cost was recently referenced to disease related groups. Treatment quality must be legally documented in a patient registry, in particular for the highly specialized treatments provided by neurosurgery departments. Blister-like aneurysms (BLA) are a rare half-dome-shaped aneurysm, with a broad-based appearance, originating more often from a non-branching site of the supraclinoid internal carotid artery (ICA). Information about the termination of the inferior anastomotic vein of Labbé is of crucial importance in the subtemporal neurosurgical approach and its modifications. An intradural course has been observed in all cases. The vein of Labbé reaches in 3/4th the anterior third of the transverse sinus, in 73% of all cases tracing a so-called tentorial sinus. By dissecting the vein of Labbé out of its dural bed and shifting its fixation point, microsurgical access is facilitated considerably.
Intraosseous monitoring of drilling in lumbar vertebrae by ultrasound: An experimental feasibility study.

The rationale for this project is to evaluate the efficiency of a novel sonographic method for measurements of interosseous distances. The method utilizes a propagating ultrasonic beam through aqueous milieu which is directed as a jet into a drilled tract. We used a plastic model of human L5 vertebra and ex vivo specimen of L5 porcine vertebra and generated 2 mm in diameter tracts in vertebral pedicles. The tracts were created in the "desired" central direction and in the "wrong" medial and lateral directions. Orbital varices: a tricky diagnosis in MRI

Orbital varix (OV) is a rare condition causing intermittent positional exophthalmos. Because of low venous pressure, OVs tend to collapse, being frequently undetectable in routine CT or MRI examinations. We describe one case of giant intraorbital varix studied with CT and MRI techniques.
