The effect of personal involvement on the decision to buy store brands

2002

Store brands are appearing in an ever‐increasing number of categories and their acceptance by consumers is unquestionable. The purpose of this paper is to model the decision process involved in a purchase which the consumer goes through when choosing store brands over national brands. The model provided allows us to explain why the same consumer may choose a store brand in one product category and not in another. We have taken personal product involvement as the principal point of reference.

Direct and indirect effects of self-image congruence on brand loyalty

2006

The purpose of the paper is to test a model dealing with direct and indirect effects of self-image congruence on brand loyalty. The model posits that self-image congruence positively affects brand loyalty directly and indirectly through functional congruity, product involvement, and brand relationship quality. The model was tested using cars as the product stimulus in a survey of 600 car owners. We chose automobiles because cars are high in conspicuousness (therefore are likely to be evaluated using symbolic criteria) and are used across a variety of situations. The model was mostly supported by the data. First, the results document the paramount importance of self-congruity in predicting b…

Comprehensiveness Is a Cliché

2001

The purpose of this study was to explore professionals' orientation toward child assessment and planning. Semistructured questionnaire data and interview data were collected from child neurological units in Finland. Legislation in Finland does not specifically provide guidelines for family centeredness and comprehensiveness in early intervention, yet professionals have widely accepted these approaches in their work with children with disabilities and their families. Results of this study indicated that practices were not implemented consistently. Professionals' varying perceptions of the concept of comprehensiveness and family involvement seemed to interfere with the implementation of thes…

L'abandon sportif : des motifs d'abandon aux modèles théoriques : une recherche longitudinale chez les handballeuses et les basketteuses

2011

The objective of this thesis was on the one hand to identify the motives for dropout handballers and the basketballers Syrian women and to test on the other hand three theoretical models which explain the dropout of sport. A first study (N = 402) attempted to identify the reasons for dropout for these players. The results showed that the players estimate that certain reasons (e.g., to get pregnant, to have a husband which does not make it possible to his wife any more to make sport) are very important to give up sport. Some reasons are in function of the type and level of players as well as the age and level of experience. A second study (N = 328) tested the model of dropout of Sarrazin and…
