SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISATION OF NEW AZOLE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR FUNCTIONAL IONIC SYSTEMS

The synthesis of a series of 27 salts based on 5-(4-(alkyloxy)phenyl)-1,4-dimethyl-3-(perfluoroalkyl)-1,2,4-triazol-4-ium structures, differing in the length of the alkyl and perfluoroalkyl chains, as well as in the counter ions is reported. Some properties of this new family of salts as perspective liquid-crystalline ionic liquids (LC-ILs) are described and the influence of the varying moieties in the modulation of the properties is discussed.

Endocrine and ovarian response after a 2-day controlled suckling and eCG treatment in lactating rabbit does.

2006

Synchronization methods are used to obtain higher fertility when artificial insemination (AI) is applied to lactating rabbit does. The most common methods are eCG administration or temporary doe–litter separation. Nevertheless, drawbacks have been reported, such as negative side effects of hormonal treatment in the doe and low litter growth due to absence of suckling, respectively. Recently, improved reproductive performance (without visible consequences on young rabbit growth), has been obtained by applying a 2-day controlled nursing method before AI, by allowing for a 10 min nursing of the litter 24 h of separation. The present study was undertaken to examine the pituitary (PRL, LH, FSH) …

The food industry produces significant amounts of waste, many of them rich in valuable compounds that could be recovered and reused in the framework of circular economy. The development of sustainable and cost-effective technologies to recover these value added compounds will contribute to a significant decrease of the environmental footprint and economic burden of this industry sector. Synthesis, characterization and thermal properties of new aromatic quaternary ammonium bromides

2004

Series of new aromatic R 2R′ 2N +Br - (R=benzyl, 4-methylbenzyl, 2-phenylethyl, 3-phenylpropyl; R′=ethyl, methyl, isopropyl) or RR′ 2NH +Br --type (R=benzyl, R′=isopropyl) quaternary ammonium bromides were prepared by using novel synthetic route in which a formamide (N,N-diethylformamide, N,N-dimethylformamide, N,N-diisopropylformamide) is treated with aralkyl halide in presence of a weak base. The compounds were characterized by 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Structures of the crystalline compounds were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction, and in addition the powder diffraction method was used to study the structural similarities between the single crysta…

Interaction of sodium, lithium, caesium, and potassium ions with ascorbyl radicals.

1987

Abstract The influence of the concentration of sodium, lithium , caesium, and potassium ions as well as of the ionic strength of the solutions used on the dismutation rate of ascorbyl radicals has been investigated. While the dismutation rate was not influenced by Li+, it decreased, however, with increasing concentrations of the other ions investigated. The largest effect was obtained with Na+. This change in dismutation rate indicates a stabilizing effect on ascorbyl radical by these ions.

Catalytic Synergism in a C60IL10TEMPO2 Hybrid in the Efficient Oxidation of Alcohols

2014

A novel fullerene (5:1)hexakisadduct bearing two 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl (TEMPO) radicals and ten 1-propyl-3-methylimida- zolium bromide moieties has been synthesized and characterized. Such an C60IL10TEMPO2 hybrid has been successfully employed as a catalyst in the se- lective oxidation of a wide series of alcohols and is highly active at just 0.1 mol% loading. Moreover, it can be easily recovered by adsorption onto a multi- layered covalently-linked SILP phase (mlc-SILP) through a "release and catch" approach and reused for up to 12 cycles without loss in efficiency. Inter- estingly, a catalytic synergistic effect of TEMPO and imidazolium bromide moieties combined in the same…

ChemInform Abstract: Covalently Supported Ionic Liquid Phases: An Advanced Class of Recyclable Catalytic Systems

2016

In this review, the most recent advances in the synthesis and catalytic applications of covalently supported ionic liquid (IL) phases will be discussed. This class of recyclable catalytic materials is based on the covalent attachment of several types of ammonium salts, usually imidazolium, but also thiazolium, triazolium, and pyrrolidinium salts, on the surface of different supports, for example, silica, periodic mesoporous organosilica, polystyrene, magnetic-based materials, carbon nanotubes (NTs), halloysite NTs, polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS), and fullerenes. Moreover, poly(ionic liquid) materials, in which the IL-based structure also acts as a support, will be considered. T…

Interface engineering in efficient vacuum deposited perovskite solar cells

2016

Abstract We studied the effect of the charge transport layers in p-i-n perovskite solar cells using vacuum deposited methylammonium lead iodide thin-film absorbers. While solution-processed perovskite films are frequently deposited directly on PEDOT:PSS leading to good solar cell performances, in some cases even to very good Voc values, we show that in devices employing vacuum deposited MAPbI3 perovskites, the removal of the polyTPD electron blocker substantially reduces the photovoltaic behavior. This is indicative of rather different charge transport properties in the vacuum deposited MAPbI3 perovskites compared to those prepared from solution. On the other hand, we investigated the use o…
