Alkylation of ambident indole anion in ionic liquids
2007
AbstractAlkylation of indole salts in different ionic liquids is reported. Ionic liquids increase the alkylation reaction rate of ambident indole anion and reduce the effects of counter ions and/or additives, the alkylation reaction rates being independent of the presence of small amounts of protic solvents or water.
Successful gamete intrafallopian transfer following failed artificial insemination by donor: evidence for a defect in gamete transport?
1988
Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) was offered as an alternative treatment to 48 women who failed to conceive after artificial insemination with donor semen (AID) in numerous attempts (9 to 24 cycles). The evaluation of these women showed no major cause of infertility as evidenced by normal endocrine, cervical, uterine, and tubal factor studies. Their partners were either azoospermic or severely oligoasthenospermic. During the GIFT cycle, follicular development was induced with (1) clomiphene citrate (days 3 to 7) plus human menopausal gonadotropins (hMG) from day 6 on or (2) human follicle-stimulating hormone (days 3 to 4) plus hMG (day 5 on), until ultrasound revealed 2 follicles 16 mm…
The first authenticated example of triorganotin(IV) perchlorate complexes of some heterocyclic bases
1993
Abstract A convenient method is reported for the synthesis of some novel complexes of composition (R 3 SnL 2 ) ClO 4 where L represents pyridine, γ-picoline, 2,2′-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline; and R n Bu or Ph. All of the new ionic complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, infrared, multinuclear nuclear magnetic resonance ( 1 H, 13 C and 119 Sn) and 119 Sn Mossbauer spectroscopies. The complexes of composition (R 3 SnL 2 )ClO 4 exist both in solution and in the solid state with trans -trigonal bipyramidal structure where the R-groups occupy the equatorial positions while the ligands are in the axial position.
SYNTHESIS, LASER-RAMAN, INFRARED AND PROTON MAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTRA OF (CH3)3PtX2- 3 IONS (X = Cl−, Br−) AND (CH3)3Ptiv ISOCYANIDE COMPLEXES
1976
Abstract The novel ionic complexes [(C6H5)4As]2 [(CH3)3PtX3](X = Cl− and Br−) and [(CH3)3Pt(bipy)L]+[B(C6H5)4]− (bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, L = aliphatic and aromatic isocyanide) have been prepared. The structure of the complex ions has been inferred from Laser-Raman and infrared spectra in the solid state and 1H NMR in solution. These data are consistent with a facial configuration of the organometallic moiety. Trends in vibrational frequencies ν(Pt-C) and ν(Pt-X) indicate a “trans” influence sequence for the ligands, which in the case of (CH3)3PtX2- 3 is related with that found for (CH3)2AuX− 2 ions.
Complexes of Tin(IV) with Tridentate Ligands MSSBAUER, Infrared, and Solution Phase Studies
1974
The configuration in the solid state and in solution phase of complexes of SuIV wit,li tridentate “planar” ligands, Sn(trid)2 and HNEt3Cl3 Sntrid, have been investigated by infrared and MOSSBAUER spectroscopy, as well as by osmometry, conductivity, and electronic and PMR spectroscopy. The presence of monomeric Sn(trid)2 and ionic [HNEt] [Cl3Sn trid−] species has been inferred. Octahedral type configurations are advanced for both classes of compounds.
The potential of antimicrobial peptides isolated from freshwater crayfish species in new drug development: A review
2021
Abstract The much-publicised increased resistance of pathogenic bacteria to conventional antibiotics has focused research effort on the characterization of new antimicrobial drugs. In this context, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) extracted from animals are considered a promising alternative to conventional antibiotics. In recent years, freshwater crayfish species have emerged as an important source of bioactive compounds. In fact, these invertebrates rely on an innate immune system based on cellular responses and on the production of important effectors in the haemolymph, such as AMPs, which are produced and stored in granules in haemocytes and released after stimulation. These effectors are …

An infrared study of organothallium thiocyanates
1974
Abstract Some structural aspects of the organothallium(III) thiocyanates R 2 TlCNS (R = Me, Ph).[Ph 4 As][Me 2 Tl(CNS) 2 ] and Phtl(CNS) 2 have been studied by IR spectroscopy. From the frequencies of the NCS group vibrations in the solids, and the integrated intensity of the C≡N stretching absorption in solution, it was ascertained that the diorganothallium derivatives are isothiocyanates with a certain amount of ionic character in the TlNCS bonds, whereas PhTl(CNS), is essentially a TlSCN bonded compound. Apparently both solid Me 2 TlCNS and [Ph 4 As][Me 2 Tl(CNS) 2 ] do not show IR active ν s (TlC 2 )bands. The compound Me 2 TlCNS displays a double ν as (TlC 2 band, from which the pres…
Ferromagnetic coupling and spin canting behaviour in heterobimetallic ReIVMII/III(M = CoII/III, NiII) species
2012
Three novel heterobimetallic Re(IV) compounds of formulae [ReBr(4)(μ-ox)M(4,7-Cl(2)phen)(2)]·CH(3)CN·CH(3)NO(2) [M = Co(II) (1) and Ni(II) (2)] and [ReBr(4)(ox)](3)[Co(III)(5,6-dmphen)(3)](2)·CH(3)CN·2CH(3)NO(2)·4H(2)O (3) [ox = oxalate, 4,7-Cl(2)phen = 4,7-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline and 5,6-dmphen = 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline] have been synthesised and the structures of 1 and 3 determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is an oxalato-bridged Re(IV)Co(II) heterodinuclear complex where the [ReBr(4)(ox)](2-) unit acts as a bidentate ligand towards the [Co(4,7-Cl(2)phen)(2)](2+) entity, the separation between Re(IV) and Co(II) across the oxalate being 5.482(1) Å. 2015
Dye-sensitized solar cells equipped with cationic and neutral RuII-based sensitizers [Ru(ddpd){tpy(COOH)3}]2+ [12+; ddpd = N,N′-dimethyl-N,N′-di(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-2,6-diamine, tpy(COOH)3 = 2,2″6′,2″-terpyridine-4,4′,4″-tricarboxylic acid] and [Ru(ddpd){tpy(COOH)(COO)2}] (2) with and without the coadsorbent chenodeoxycholic acid were constructed with I3–/I– or the CoIII/II-based redox mediators [Co(bpy)3]3+/2+ (33+/2+; bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and [Co(ddpd)2]3+/2+ (43+/2+) in the presence of LiClO4 and 4-tert-butylpyridine. The best photovoltaic performance was achieved by using the 43+/2+ shuttle and the neutral sensitizer 2 without coadsorbent. The higher short-circuit photocurrent densit…
