Elämykset kulttuurina ja kulttuuri elämyksinä : kulttuurintutkimuksen näkökulmia elämystalouteen
2016
Ten facts about content marketing
2018
Content marketing is facing what most trendy topics face: it is more publicly discussed than it is truly understood. Thus far content production has relied on case-specific, individual reports, and the final outcomes of content have provided surprises, both positive or negative. In hindsight it is easy to explain content success and failure, but academic studies on the logic of content creation and content life cycle have been missing. The ambitious goal of this research, Opening the Black Box of Content Marketing, funded by Business Finland, has been to systematically open up the logic of content marketing. In our project, we asked what constitutes content related expectations, how are con…

Cognition, metacognition and the patient perspective : new ways to evaluate and rehabilitate schizophrenia patients in forensic psychiatric care
2016
This research focused on factors associated with schizophrenia as well as on the feasibility and effectiveness of group metacognitive training (MCT) in schizophrenia patients with a history of violence in a high-security forensic hospital setting. One of the aims was to scrutinize reasoning ability in regards to jumping to conclusions (JTC) cognitive bias and the expression of cognitive insight (insight into one’s own thinking), a metacognitive ability. A second aim was to examine the associations of these factors with each other and with insight into illness and delusions. Moreover, the patients’ health-related quality of life (HRQOL) was explored. A further objective was to study the pote…

EDM and Ecstasy: the lived experiences of electronic dance music festival attendees
2017
Attendance at large-scale music festivals has captivated a global interest in these spectacular experiences, yet little is known about the lasting benefits and personal changes individuals incur following this event. This study aims to provide a comprehensive exploration of the lived experiences of individuals who attended a multi-day electronic dance music festival. The present study was primarily interested in the perceived beneficial changes within the individual, following their festival experience. We investigated if first-time festival attendees perceived changes differed to those of returning individuals. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were used to collect data from 12 indivi…
Impressions of Questionable Marketing Practices in Indonesia: The Influence of Gender and Social Desirability Response Bias
2008
Our research examines the ethical sensitivity of 90 Indonesian business students (61 male and 29 female) toward questionable marketing practices using self-reported data; however, unlike most ethics research, we control for social desirability responsibility bias. In our research, we found that, when social desirability response bias was not considered, there was a significant gender difference. However, we also found that female students scored significantly higher on our measure of social desirability response bias than did their male counterparts. When we considered both gender and social desirability response bias in our models, the differences in ethical sensitivity between genders wer…
